i'd tell them to get fucked but then i'm not american. and move my hosting offshore

in fact i'd also register RealtorDotOrgSucksCock.info and redirect to it.

They do own the trademark and if they want to protect it they will go after you. I would ignore them for now, but I would not invest any time or money in the site.

Like cdc said, REALTOR is a trademark and they're notorious for proteting it. I would definitely not take that email lightly. I'm a member of various domain forums and the word realtor in names have been brought up lots of times.

Maybe you should check past wipos etc. to get a feel for similar cases.

Reading from the links posted, realtor is a word that spawned OUT of the trademark. It's not a generic term and they will protect and make you lose that domain. Just bite the 10$ and let it expire, lesson learned.

Realtor is a licensed trademark from The Association of Realtors. You can see the Trademark here: Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)

Just because something is popular in idiomatic expressions (xeroxing, rollerblading, googling) does not mean that the mark is not vigilantly protected by the parent organization.

If you don't comply, these guys will UDRP you. The National Association of Realtors is known for being vigilant about protecting it's mark; as is Geico (don't you dare use a Gecko), McDonalds, Disney, Coke, etc.

I'd comply and alter the domain to say 'real estate agent' or something similar. This is what you meant anyway, you're just calling the xerox machine a photocopier instead of a xerox this way.

Exactly... don't mess with Trademarks, you could be categorized as a squatter and put your entire portfolio at jeopardy.
