Yessirrrr.

Just fixed my buds computer in exchange for a Radioshack pro-2018.

I'm planning on broadcasting our local scanner frequencies (police, ambulance, fire, marine warden, warden service etc) online as my next project. It is going to be pimp. Done a ton of research on it (not really).

I can't figure out for the life of my how I would monetize such weird thing. I'm going to do it anyway, because it would be so cool.

Shoot out a few suggestions if you could think of them

Google ads... or become an affiliate here :

Scanner Master - Police Scanners by Uniden Bearcat, AOR and Radio Shack.

One of the ways I find out how to monetize a project is to go to google, type in the term (in this case, I used the term scanner frequencies) and go to the first few sites and look at how they are montetizing them.

If they're in the top position for a good term, then I tend to really look at how their site is set up. Ideally, use a few sites for a model and make the best of all of them for your site.

No offense blondeTM, but I've googled, yahooed, and all that shit. The website that you referenced is basically a scanner store, and I've been there yesterday.

I have no interest in selling scanners, and I've seen how the sites on scanner feeds work.

75% in top 2 pages don't monetize for some stupid reason.
25% do, but their methods are confusing or annoying.

I will most probably be slapping it on someone's teamspeak server,
which will most likely put any site I make out of the picture once they
figure out how to directly access the feed.

Sorry I wasn't more specific before, I'm about 3/4 in the bag right now

you will have a LOT of bandwidth and probably cpu usage. just keep that in mind :)

ahhh, ok. No offense taken. :) I wasn't sure where you were on this, so I started with the basics.

like I said, I'm going to be hosting it on somebody elses teamspeak server, which will take care of the bandwith and shit, but that's my main problem.

How will I monetize it when people figure out that they can eventually just log on to their server and bypass my site?

That's the problem I'm looking at

then dont host it on a teamspeak server, duh. ;)

do some cloaking/masking on the fact that its a teamspeak server. how youd do that? i danno. but dont let people know you have a TS server.

sell commercials maybe? how youd do that? i danno.

looks like you got a little research to do ;)
