Religion has to get 100% outside law in a modern society. No protection, no benefit.

How can a so called modern society place any value on superstitious beliefs of people above common law?

Religion is nothing but politics. Absolutely the same thing. A total ideology about life, no differen than socialism or communism.

If religion has special protection then people with strong political beliefs should also have it. I demand protection by the state to not pay any taxes as this is MY religion and if I pay taxes then I will go to hell.
