That's the most BULLSHIT argument for ILLEGAL immigration. So Americans wont do the shit jobs so we place a whole foriegn population in virtual slavery?!?!?! Actually the idea that we need ILLEGAL immigrants is more right wing than even I am. Sure big business wants the ILLEGALS so they can pay $9 and hour instead of $20 and don't have to pay workers comp and so on.

Without the ILLEGALS big business might have to pay more to AMERICAN workers or even work with the labor unions a bit more.

Dude, you must be highly inexperienced with life and understanding the world as a whole. How many ILLEGAL immigrants do you think are working for Deloitte and Touche? ILLEGALS are working in places where they can work....which is more than not in restaurants, bodegas, or any job that pays off the books. And another thing...this "virtual slavery" is 100% voluntary. Nobody is making them work these jobs, if they wanna quit they can quit. You've never seen how grateful these "aliens" are to have the jobs they have. But i'll never forget the day when an Equadorian kid working in a kitchen told me about his first pair of American sneakers that he could afford after busting his ass in a hot kitchen for 12 hours/day....then of course he goes out and rapes people after work. Sounds like you have quite the jaded perspective. By the way...college graduated white people get paid $9/hr (look on craigslist), immigrants get shit.

Where I live (OK) they are paid $9 and up in construction, landscaping etc. That is untill OK just passed legislation making it a felony to hire an ILLEGAL. Now they are all moving to your state.

I guess I could also marry my dog. That way when the bitch has a litter of pups I can write them off on my taxes as dependents.

You are equating gay marriage with bestiality, do you honestly not undetstand how ridiculous of an argument this is.

It's a fact that a lot of American's simply WILL NOT do certain jobs, period. Good or bad, the middle class has achieved a certain level of success, what we have is middle class familes that don't need to take low paying jobs, and lower class families living off of our Welfare system.

Who do you think is crying out against these illegal immigrants anyway? Generally a bunch of uninformed biggots sitting around that are so far away from the situation that they don't know their ass from their face.

We've got a system that rewards people for not working, and that's the welfare state folks. Those who work hard are punished with high taxes to fund the poor, meanwhile we have to take in illegal immigrants to perform the jobs that the poor (whom SHOULD be working theses jobs) will not do. Why work when you get a free check, right?

So generally, my opinion the illegal immigration is actually a consequence of the welfare state that we've created. I'm not saying we should reward people who cross the borders illegally, but I do have a lot of admiration for risking everything to come here and work for pennies, in hope that their kids may not have to do the same one day.

Amen.

EDIT: Actually 'well said' with your entire post. I wish more people like you would sit down and actually try to THINK through the problems instead of blowing a bunch of prejudical 'fear speak' out of their asses.

Turbolapp,

If you want to wait on the Supreme Court, be my guest. However, you should know that the Virginia case you mentioned was a totally different case then gay marriage. There, the state law defined “marriage” as being between a “man and women” just as it does today in most jurisdictions. However, another law forbid a marriage between “interracial” couples. This is the part the Supreme Court struck down, not the marriage law.

If you truly want to “change the law,” get a group of people who agree with you and change it at your state’s legislature. Until you do that, you’re just blowing smoke.

Popeye,
You may want to calm down and re-read my previous post. I was agreeing with you about illegal immigration.

I suppose you have to be quite plain spoken for you to understand; so, I will explain as simply as possible. Who did all those jobs Americans don't want to do 25 years ago before we had such a large Mexican work force? AMERICANS, that’s who. And American’s would STILL want to do them if their previous employers weren’t paying the poor illegal aliens dirt wages to do them now.

Try reading AND understanding before you speak.

This "fear" speak that alot of Liberals want to bring up is nothing more than not having to face the "facts". Terriosm on US soil was called "fear" talk before 911. Poor border defense and it's consequences are called "fear" talk untill dozens of small hospitals in my state are shut down due to having to treat ILLEGAlS in the E.R.s for colds and basic medical care.

In college and in my early twenties I too was a liberal. I couldn't stand conservatives and thier fear mongering. I couldn't stand that we couldnt just give away money to every one that didnt have a job or couldnt work. I felt bad for gay people that couldnt marry like the majority of us can.

Then once I had a child started making money and got some life experience under my belt everything changed. I saw the consequences to all the liberal ideas I once had.

Want to confuse a Right Winger? Ask him if God would hate married Gay Couples that have abortions so their kids wouldn't be growing up in a house of sin!

Sorry Steve! Yes I was a little heated up and posted a response to the wrong thread. You might take your own advice and calm down a little. No need to web whip me!!!

I still disagree, steve. Like I said, it would take many many years to get the majority to stop mistreating the minority, and that is why we have the supreme court. They can override any law if it's deemed unconstitutional. The marriage between a man and a woman is unconstitutional (by my earlier post) so now we just have to trust that they will do what they are supposed to do and abide by the constitution.

Turbolapp,

LOL Boy am I confused.

You state, “The marriage between a man and a woman is unconstitutional (by my earlier post) . . ." I looked for your “earlier post” and found where you stated, “It is unconstitutional to treat american citizens differently due to sex, race, gender, blah blah. Consenting adults have the right to marry. Period. It doesn't matter if you like it or not.”

Are you sure your last name isn’t “Clinton”? Nah, sorry, but I couldn’t resist.

Despite your statement, “marriage” between a man and a woman is not currently unconstitutional and, in fact, the term “marriage” is not even defined in the Constitution. There are some who believe that “marriage” of gay couples falls under the fourteenth amendment’s equal protection clause, but others who doubt it. In either event, there is currently no Supreme Court ruling on point and none at bar. However, you can continue to wait for one. But, don’t hold your breath. The only way to have same sex marriage without a Supreme Court ruling is to ask your legislators. That is how it was done in the state of Massachusetts and there, gays can be “married”.

Popeye,
LOL Sorry for the “web whipping.” We conservatives must stick together. There aren’t many of us anymore.

Ok for the 3rd time Steve, By not allowing consenting adults that are american citizens to marry you are going against the constitution because you are allowing certain groups of citizens that you deem worthy to marry and forbidding others that you deem second class, to not marry. You are treating them different based on their sexual orientation and sex (M to M or F to F) and thereby going against their civil rights.

Tell me your a bigot, I'll accept that. Try to say that this is perfectly ok, according to the constitution and you are blinding yourself to your own prejudice.

You can be against same sex marriage without being a biggot. I have found that left wingers will often times throw in the "biggot" or 'racist" card whenever someone disagrees with them. Thats why alot of conservatives are quiet about their beliefs. They don't want every code pink lefty out their calling them a biggot. In fact most left wingers are the most biggoted people thier are.

Tourboapp

Ohhh. Now we’re name calling? Now you’ve brought out the BIG guns. If I said something you didn’t like or didn’t agree with, I must be those terrible things you mentioned. I cannot understand why some people have to resort to this tactic when they get angry; however, it seems to be common today.

Your stating, “y not allowing consenting adults that are [A]merican citizens to marry you are going against the constitution” is only YOUR opinion presented with no factual legal basis. Unfortunately for your stated belief, the U.S. Supreme Court has not formed an opinion on this point and only they can determine the constitutionality of your claim. I was simply pointing out that Supreme Court decisions often take many years or never occur because interest wanes. That, if you truly want to have legal gay marriage, your cause may be better served by addressing your concerns to your state’s legislature as Massachusetts citizens did. But, now I see that what you truly want is to just give “lip service” to the issue and call people names that try to help. So be it.

I'm not angry. And I stand by what I said.

EDIT: and what's with not being able to spell my name?
