Republican Party: Party of the past

Turbolapp,

Sorry for the misspelling. I too make mistakes. You said you’re not angry, again, I’m sorry for my judgment. It has just been my experience that “angry” people often use poor judgment and resort to name-calling. If that was not the case with you, I suspect something else is involved.

In your most recent post you state, “I stand by what I said.” What you said was, “Tell me your a bigot, I'll accept that. Try to say that this is perfectly ok, according to the constitution and you are blinding yourself to your own prejudice.”

I challenge you to post, in your next response for all who read these words to see, any statement I have made in this thread that would give any reasonable person cause to believe I might be a “bigot” or have shown “prejudice” in any way during this discussion. You cannot because it does NOT exist. Thus, I am forced to conclude that you are not a “reasonable” person. As such, it makes little sense to continue this discussion with you. Flame on!

Well I didn't feel the need to defend myself because I wasn't calling you a bigot per se.

What I was saying is I can at least have a small amount of respect for the outright bigots because they are open with their fear and hatred towards whomever they target. But people that refused to recognize that people must be treated equally and fairly, as is stated in the constitution, and then sugarcoat it with "it's up to the states" Or "it's up to the majority" are merely comfortably hiding their bigotry from everyone... and most of all themselves.

Bigot “per se”??? Give me a break. You threw out the “bigot” and “prejudice” words when they were not relevant to anything I said in an effort to confuse the issue. This is evident by the fact that you could not post ANY of my statements that where bigoted or prejudice even after being challenged to do so.

You are the worst kind of hypocrite. One who professes a belief but will do NOTHING to actually pursue that belief and then wants to complain about it. If you actually wanted to benefit “gay marriage” you could, at least, pick up your telephone, call your state legislator, and tell them your opinion. But NOOOOO. Not you. You just want to complain about it here so that you can LOOK liberal and then call people names to solidify your ridiculous statements.

God help us, I fear your ignorance is contagious.

I was just thinking the same of you.

Don't put words in my mouth either. I said what I said ( 3 times for your ass) and that is all I'm going to say. If you can't understand it, I really don't feel like trying a 4th time.

I'm done with this. We've hijacked the thread enough, anyway. (sorry Aim)

The old parties are dying, hopefully along with the old systems. Politics is moving away from the politicians. The debates in this thread and in billions of other places online couldn't have taken place a generation ago. People are becoming more opinionated and fortunately they also have access to more information than at any other time in human history.

They can't keep using their media puppets to tell us what they want us to hear, they can't keep us from communicating with each other. Although they try, just as they did when the printing press was invented. But just as then, this shit is changing the world faster than the ruling elite can keep up.

So, yeah the Republic Party along with the rest of them is of the past. Two people who've never met can debate about anything they like and the world can join in.... who needs politicians?

No problem, it was entertaining enough. Interestingly enough I agree with you more than anyone else, and I'm supposed to be a Republican... so whatever.

The original point of my post was to point out that there is definite 'old' and 'new' way of thinking in the Republican party. My generation, by and large, doesn't care about the social issues that most of the old-school republicans care about; we're a lot more 'liberal' in that sense, because last time I checked, liberal meant free, which is what we should be. Free to marry whom we want, regardless of gender, race, religion, etc but really (more importantly) freedom from big government, freedom to spend our money as we choose, and all the other hooplah. I'm tired and can't think anymore.

Well shit, I kind of feel the same way, does this mean I'm a Republican??? You guys already got me admiring Ron Paul, I don't think I could handle much more more of this. I might be thrown into a full blown political identity crisis!

Im not sure about Britain (long live Tony Blair) but thier really is no change in the US. The far left are a very small but vocal group. Most Americans are what they have always been and that is moderate. The majority want closed borders and banned gay marriage.

The rebublican party is very much alive and kickin. The Rebublican party is without leadership. This happend in the late 70's and the country voted in one of the worse presidents the US has every had (Jimmy Carter).

Socialism and far left ideas don't work. We will prob vote in a democrat again for pres and he or she will be impotent and be voted out in 4 years just like Carter. Then the rebublicans will take back over at that point.

And no Bill Clinton was not a far left liberal he was as rebublican as George W. is.

I'll ignore the Tony Blair comment through confusion!

No change? Look at what this global spread of information and communication has done in the last few years, a lot more people won't put up with the usual bullshit and ruling classes know that. It might take a while before the sheeple stop electing the Clintons, Bushs and Blairs, but change in inevitable.

Extremist ideas will never work for the majority of people - be that far left, far right, big government or the other extreme, anarchy. It's all about finding a balance and regardless of your views on various issues I doubt the majority of the political elite represent you.

I'm sure it will be business as usual in the US, UK and elsewhere for a while yet, but I think people will look back on the first half of the 21st century as being a time of change in global and domestic politics.

I've been a Republican since I could legally vote. The party is going down hill drastically. The only R. candidate we have with a chance is John McCain and that doesn't really do anything for me. But, considering the what the Democrats are offering, John McCain has got my vote.
