Thought some of you might like to see what i've been working on. It's a snowcat built by Utah State in 1950. Based on a jeep hurricane motor, 3 speed manual transmission, and 4wheel drive. I'm in the process of restoring it and improving it including new wiring, floor, hoses, fluid, floor, adding a roll cage, and replacing the top. Should be fun to pull tubers behind it this winter.

So how do you turn it? I don't see where you can operate each track independently. Also, I would think that it would be geared too low for any appreciable tube pulling speed. Ambitious project though - have fun!

There are two ways to turn it. it has two hand brakes in the cab, connected to hydraulic brake master cylinders. One for each track, kind of like a tank. It also has a steering wheel that goes down to a ski which sits out way in front that you can use when you are going faster (not in the picture).

Suppposedly you can get it up to about 20-30mph if the snow conditions are good. I think that speed would be good for tubing, anything more might be pretty dangerous... it reminds me of my teenage years. Growing up in Minnesota, i had a jeep that we would pull tubers around the neighborhood when we would get a foot and a half of snow on the ground. The funnest part was corners
