I know it's somewhat foolish to give out you're niche but I'm not really that worried about it. I started my site about 2 1/2 weeks ago and have only monetized it with ad sense, thus far I have made about $7 dollars. I'm looking for critique and review on the design/ad placement and how to monetize it better. I recently signed up for EPN but am still waiting to hear back from them

My first reaction was that the layout is a bit...primitive. But then again that perfectly compliments the niche.

I don't really see you being able to scale something like this a great deal. But what do I know about the popularity of spearing wild animals...
 
If at all possible, I recommend installing Wordpress. You have some good content and can definitely benefit from installing Wordpress and a couple of plugins such as all-in-one SEO and the google sitemap generator.

I agree with kingofsp, I don't think this is scalabe, but you can do a few of these. Then you could generate traffic from social bookmarking sites and have a decent amount of traffic to each one.

Spear hunting? damn dude, i've seen some cruel things in my day, but stabbing the shit out of wild hogs with a spear has got to be up there.

That said, get wordpress and try testing some color matching combos...
 
The look of this site can still be achieved using Wordpress, if you're trying to keep it LoFi... I'm sure there are people out there that make retro pre1998 feel themes.
I also get the feeling it's the sort of niche where you're really not going to come up against that much competition.

If you're going the Wordpress route, you may want to consider some gallery plugins that let users upload to them. Nothing gets repeat traffic than people being able to post pictures of shit they're interested in, and being able to comment on other people's. To whit: Skittles thread.
 
Err,..where to begin.

1. Make the site as wide as the adspace on top.
2. Blend the ad colors to the site's colors.

You should use link unit above the fold replacing the 728x90 ads

I agree with the suggestion to use address.

I would also increase the width of the layout.

Do some link building and find sponsors to put banner ads on your site. Sponsors will pay better than adsense ever will.

Affliate ads are also a good way to go for niche sites. Check out commision junction or clickbank.
 
Why not become a cabellas/ bass pro shops / whoeverthefuck sells spears affiliate and drive traffic to something that makes more than $0.10 adsense clicks?

Under 8,000 optimized results, ranked #13, for a keyword that gets an average of 13 searches a day. On the other hand, there are a couple Adwords ads running, which suggests some type of clientele there.

I'm curious too - how much did you get for that site?

Hey how do you get the figure of 13/day? I'm using Google keyword tool and I'm seeing a lot more. I guess you're using something more accurate, I'll look for the best alternative.
