Researchers at Michigan State University have built a prototype gasoline engine that requires no transmission, crankshaft, pistons, valves, fuel compression, cooling systems or fluids.
  • Expected to decrease auto emission up to 90% over standard internal combustion engines
  • Uses 60% of it's fuel for propulsion, compared to 15% for internal combustion engines
  • Expected to shave about 1,000 pounds off of vehicle weight

Who cares about the auto emissions being cut when that are cars that run on water with 0 emissions that aren't being used?

Looks like a turbine to me. I assume it would use combustion on both sides of the turbine. Similar to how a cylinder engine works. I would almost think it would be less efficient.

I don't see how it won't need a transmission.

No real details there. Just some guy flopping around his aluminum blower motor.

2.5 mil to machine $25 worth aluminum and acrylic... Well spent

Edit:
Or the combustion could run on one side and it would loop around through the turbine, collecting more energy than a standard 2+ cylinder engine. I guess it could store energy if it was heavy and continued to spin. Allowing the alternator to keep generating power even when stopped. Thus getting rid of the need for the car to idle. Could replace the transmission with only a clutch.

Damn I need to get out more.. lol

Yeah... because cars run on water...

There's a little more info here: DailyTech - New Disc Gas Engine Looks to Challenge Traditional Diesel, Gas ICEs but I'm guessing they're being tight-lipped until everything can be patented.

It could potentially be worth billions of dollars if it's half as good as they describe it to be.

Because with this you don't have to have fueling stations built. That means that it's much easier to get out on the road and have customers adopt.

Once customers adopt something like this, they see the benefits and reduction in their monthly expenses, suddenly they have extra money to spend on future alternative sources of energy cars, but shipping goes down because tractor trailers get converted and the cost of goods across the board suddenly drop. When you have that type of surplus, everyone gets excited and starts pushing R&D.

I understand, but there have been alternatives available for years. I mean, our gas mileage is steadily decreasing on average.

Of course. It's not been in the oil companies' interests to allow anything other than standard combustion engines to take off and be adopted by the automobile companies.

They have now started investing in other sources of energy to sell, understanding that if they don't adapt they'll go out of business since there is an increase call for something different.

While I doubt they'll allow much change beyond the status quo, as they want to keep the progression moving at a pace they can adapt with; this could get the ball rolling.

I went to Michigan State for 2 years, and for my own safety I will never, ever, ever drive a car that's been engineered by the dim aloof bums there.

Yes, there are cars that run on water, just like there are cars that run on vegetable oil.
Cars can't run on water. To create energy you must oxidize molecules. Water is the final step of the process and can't be oxidized anymore. The molecular make up of water is H2O. But to create energy you must have carbon, that's why all fuels are hydro-carbons. Water is a byproduct of burning. It makes no sense in physics what you are suggesting.

CR Scientific: Electrolysis Experiments - Introduction

water-electrolyzer cars.

The video is a year and half old, so what's happened to this? Has it been bought out or blocked by the fuel industry? From what I can gather, it seems they'd have some sort of working 25kw motor a year after this video and have they?

Sometimes I am disgusted with the world.

Have you been reading too many of your own "Run Car on Water" clickbank rebillz???

Look, even if this isn't a total scam (and 1000+ unhappy customers on scam.com and ripoff report can't all be wrong!) the things still use petro first and foremost to make the engine churn.

That's not to say that there aren't incredible fuel technologies out there the car corps aren't suppressing. -This wave engine tech is just the next in line; like so many others we only hear about the initial press release and then a corporation comes along and steals or buys it out from them and locks it away... Because it wouldn't be as profitable for them as what they have going now.

did you forget about steam cars? put water in, steam comes out.

what you suugest makes sense of the cars that run on water but extract hydrogen out, but with steams its pure water bro.

ask jay leno.. your still left with a bit water in the end when it condenses on the outside or the engine cools down

errr... nvm, just realized what you said.

What about energy coming from burning hydrogen?
Carbon energy is only cheaper (for a few years) and easier energy.
