Ok, so i'm not usuually one to share my LP's, especially on a forum like this.

But finally decided to give ringtones a go. But i wanted to try something a bit different from the carrier pages everyone does.

So here is what i am gonna test out:

Cellpunch hits you with the best ringtones | Cellpunch.com

Would love to hear what you guys think. I know it needs a few tweaks off the bat, like moving the first "go now" above the fold.

But what other comments do you have?

The headline is dynamic, so it inserts the band name you searched for. So if you searched "Phish ringtones for Sprint" you would see this: Cellpunch hits you with the best ringtones | Cellpunch.com

Think it has any potential?

The img header at the top looks weird... I don't know what it is, but my mind keep saying "You can scroll up more"

Weird comment I know... Just stood out.

Fix the rating sizes and size everything down a tad and you should be in business. I like the rating/compare concept.

Bill's right on, it's begging me to scroll up not down, the retro early 90's feeling might actually work. Toss it out there and see what you get.

The dynamic insertion is poorly executed, the landing page is ugly and confusing.

I would start over

IMO :)

Kind of agree here. One of the problems that i ahve with the design is that you don't know where to click. There are soo many things screaming out at you and the "go now" button is so many layers down on the page that it gets buried, even if it were above the fold.

Good to get a lot of comments and confirmation on some of my thoughts before i go back to the designer...

Any thoughts on doing a review page for this Vs. a carrier page?

Screw it and test it. You NEVER now how it will truly turn out. I've had the most obscure crap convert like crazy.

One thing the page has going for it is that it doesn't look like the other 99% ringtone LPS out there.

I think a carrier page is better IMO.

Most people who are searching for ringtones don't even know about companies such as Flycell, Jamster, etc. They just want to download a ringtone right then and now. In addition they aren't in a buying mode (most think they're getting ringtones for free). So I think a carrier page is better, because it gets the user thinking more about downloading ringtones, instead of confusing them even more.
Basically you are adding in another variable for them to consider (which they've never thought of before), and generally that's not a good idea.

But test it. That's the only way you'll find out which one is better!

The top need to be fixed, get a small border there so it looks like the top of a site. It screams of scroll up.

I also think there are way too many colors, its not easy on the eyes.

Header image could be smaller, the logo doesn't need to be that big.

Other than that the concept is decent / different, definately give it a go.

I think its a great idea but you have a lot of stuff below the fold. Perhaps moving it all up and putting it all next to each other horizontally and closer to the fold would be better.

The design didn't sit well with me, but I had to look at it for a while to figure out why.

Basically, the lower haöf of the page (the actual "content") is all nice and shaded with gradients, etc..

The upper half "the header" is all angular with flat coloring.

It needs some work for sure. I bet you will lose money for sure and get very few conversions with that page is you run ppc to it as it is right now. A few pointers:

1. The logo area on top is HUGE and serves no purpose except to show the user what site they are on. It's also ugly and looks like an amateur designed it. 394 pixels in height is WAY too much for a logo and it pushes all the important parts of the page way down. In some browser resolutions any link that makes you money is before the fold, not good at all. I am in a good mood today and haven't worked on graphics in a while so I took a few minutes to re-create your logo area for you and will include the images below.

2. I like that you have dynamic text showing the keyword the users used but I would re-word the text above it so something better than "Today's Top Sites For: Phich Ringtones". How about "Top 3 Places To Download Phish Ringtones" instead.

3. In the first sites bulleted list to the right you have the keyword dynamically insterted again which is good. I would have that on all 3 listings rather than just the first one. I know you get the highest payout on the first and want people going to that site but still have "Phish Rintones" near all 3 sites. If I was you I would also write in the amount of phish ringtones each one has (fictitious number of course) and make the first site have highest number of phish rintones and then 2nd and 3rd have a little less each to it tiers down. Obviously I would keep the numbers semi-low and check that they actually have at least some rintones for the keywords you are bidding on to avoid any issues with users who sign up and can't find any ringtones for the artists they searched for.

4. I would use stars rather than the cell phone bars to rate each site. I just think they come across much clearer and are easier for users and they are used to seeing them often on competative review websites. Not as huge a factor as some of the other things I suggested but just giving you all that popped into my mind when viewing your LP.

Most people who listen to phish don't even know what a cellphone is... jk :)

When I said it was poorly executed, I didn't mean the text, but more of how it is linked up.

When you search for "phish ringtones" and it appears on your page, it should link to the corresponding page on your sponsors site. When you click through it shows ringtones, but no phish ringtones. You need to have it pull up all of the available phish ringtones. That way people can just click download and enter their number. That skips the step of them having to search AGAIN for something they had already searched for. You want it to be as relevant as possible. The surfer would get discouraged if they just hit a generic page after doing all that searching and clicking.

I agree that top 3 would be a better choice.

About 2 third of the page above the fold is graphics with uninteresting copy (from a user point of view). That's where you should get your users attention and talk about benefits. I'm ok with the rest of the page.

Thanks WayneDog + rep for the logo suggestion!

Good point. Funtonia has option to link directly to an artisit page. Still trying to figure out a way to dynamically insert the searched artist name into that portion of the URL. For now i'm just linking to homepage, ideally i would go direct to artist's page. good call...

Also, thinking about ditching the funtonia offer all together ince to get a lead a user has to go to the site, create an account AND purchase with a CC. not through SMS.

The reason i chose them originally is because they have the most artists, so i figure i would be able to bid on more terms. I just scraped all the artists on their site. That's also why i only have the dynamic insertion for that offer. I'de feel too shady to tell people that Flycell had phish ringtones when i know they dont (or other artists)...

I think my new plan is to use flycell as the #1 b/c i'm pretty sure it will convert beter. I'll just make sure to only bid on bands i know they have. May cut down my overall traffic, but pretty sure it will help my conversions.

Also, gonna use lots of the other feedback to make the page better.

Most of the suggestions i already knew were issues. But the solutions u guys gave are great. Thanks for the help!

I like the content portion, but like others have mentioned the header takes up too much screen real-estate. Otherwise, I think the "review" type LP might offer a breath of fresh air to the niche.

Mind PM'ing who your landing page designer is?
