Ron Paul 2012

Ron Paul's sun is setting, he's way too old, and has way too much baggage to ever actually be elected.

It's great for everyone to throw out the "Ron Paul 2012" battle cry, but it's just not realistic. Those of us who are Libertarian minded need to stop the lip-service for something that's never going to happen, and check out other possible candidates. It's time to get serious, otherwise we're going to end up with something terrible, like having to vote for Mitt Romney vs Obama in 2012,

People to watch:

Gary Johnson -

- 2 term popular New Mexico Governor - while in office, he reduced spending, and shrunk the size of government.
- Anti Fed, Anti War, Anti Spending - Pro smaller government
-Prior to being a politician, he actually ran a profitable business.
-Has hinted he might consider a run in 2012

And then there's Paul Ryan -

- 6 times elected Wisconsin House Rep, Current Leading Republican member of the House Budget Committee
- He wants tax cuts, reduced spending, and a balanced budget
- Has published an actual workable plan to fix the deficit and streamline taxes

Check out : Republicans should embrace Paul Ryan's Road Map | Washington Examiner

From that article:

"The plan would give everyone a refundable tax credit to buy health insurance, allow individual investment accounts to be carved out of Social Security, reduce the six income tax rates to two (10 and 25 percent), and replace the corporate tax (35 percent) with a business consumption tax (8.5 percent). And that's not the half of it."

He's also young, charismatic, and like-able- which shouldn't matter at all, but is an unfortunate important component to being elected in America today, especially vs someone who manages his personal brand as well as Obama:

I've got a lot of resources I can throw at something if you guys want to take action now. Regardless of age/baggage, he's exactly what we need ... even if he's a running mate for one of the 2 guys listed above (Gary Johnson sounds outstanding).

Ron Paul doesn't have to be the primary candidate for his minions to support him going to the White House. We're talking millions of supporters and hundreds of millions of dollars ... and every evil genius on the net.

I like the guy, but he's not getting elected unfortunately. Pipe dreams.

Ron Paul getting elected may not be realistic, but his candidacy still benefits the system. The two party system is the root of a lot of the problem's in US, and even though Ron Paul is running as a Republican, he is one of the few elected politicians that is truly independent, and doesn't take orders from the party establishment.
The two party monopoly on power has to be ended, and the only way to do so is to support candidates like Ron Paul who are free thinkers.

Why Ron Paul can't be elected is retarded. Too many morons on the republican and democratic sides (YES WE CAN'T) to get a better vision elected.

If we can agree on who to push and get a plan together - I'm in.

I like him , he's not electable.

Find someone with the same ideas that DOESN'T talk about 9/11 , aliens, shadow government and the like (I don't care if you think they're true or not , they TURN VOTERS OFF!).

So , my vote is for Paul Ryan or Johnson, even Boehner is good.

A 3 party system isn't much better, look at Ross Perot. As great of a guy as he is , he put Clinton in office , and if you're on the other side of the bill, Nader sealed the victory for bush in 00.

As seen in Canada , all that has to happen is for 3rd party and one of the major 2 to do a power broker and then the winner in terms of votes gets pushed to the side and that's not a good thing.

Sounds like they need to market their ideology into someone who can sell themselves well. I mean hell look at Obama, half the country if not more disagree with him, but he sold himself very well during the election, need someone like that in the Ron Paul camp.

Straight ticket ballots (ie: where you can just simply choose a party) should be made illegal. Some people might actually have to pay attention to who they're voting for if they gota remember their names in any category other than president, governor, mayor.

Campaign bumper sticker: "RuPaul/GaGa: Change already happened"

I think the questionable nature of Gaga might actually make that work. Someone needs to take a typical political bumper sticker, and and some of that 'flair' to it, and get them printed. It might actually open some people up for interpretation.

And plus its not like we haven't had useless VP candidates before.
