Few days ago we saw the slate.com article about how he won all the delegates in certain areas, which confused the shit out of me and how that whole system works..

This video does well in explaining what's going on if you're unclear.. Second half of the video RP's campaign adviser speaks.

really good. i like how that guy talk about the system being gamed and bent for romney. i wish he would do more shit.

i'm still a little confused on delegates tho. are they ultimately the voters w the final say?

The Wall Street Journal "Delegate Tracker" shows Santorum with all of the MN delegates, but I doubt he will end up with even 1 MN delegate when the process is over. Precinct delegates supporting Ron Paul should have the numbers to easily win 100% of the delegate spots at the next level in MN.

I have still only heard of 1 MN precinct where Ron Paul supporters filled less than 50% of the delegate spots. We easily won all of the delegate spots in my precinct. Nobody was encouraged to leave after the straw vote like Maddow suggested. Most of the other candidate supporters were really old, not many of them even wanted to be delegates, and their delegate votes were not as organized which made them less effective.

Yes. Delegates decide at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

What I find humorous is the same exact strategy was attempted 4 years ago; Paul just didn't have the same level of support he does today. Perhaps because of that his competitors aren't making a credible attempt to stop him. Quite curious.

Rachel Maddow pisses me off though. I saw this vid on Pauls FB page and she kept trying to spin it like what he was doing was somehow unethical.

But you can only hold people back from the truth for so long.

"You can't stop an idea who's time has come."

The republicans are saying it too:

People in the precincts who wanted to run as delegates for the county assembly had the right to announce which candidate they supported, but they could also remain uncommitted. The uncommitted delegates, Ryan Call, Colorado Republican Party chairman said, would essentially run on the premise that their fellow precinct voters could trust their judgment when it came to picking delegates to represent the right candidate.

"What we did find, however, is that a lot of the Ron Paul delegates refused to tell their caucus voters who they were supporting," Call said. "That's unfortunate to a degree because then that undermines the representative nature of caucuses and assemblies."

The funny thing is everyone is acting like this is new and surprising when this is exactly how Obama won over Hillary.
The real difference is the national populace vote at that time was usually neck and neck but Obama had the delegates, so he won. So yeah if Paul pulls it off it will be quite a shock to the establishment. But they don't call it an "upset" for nothing ;)

Your system is so fucked up lol ..... How did the people who made the electoral system in the USA not see all the logical fallacies in the system. *mind blown*

This. How dare the forefathers not anticipate telephones, computers, interenet...etc assisting in democratic elections.

And we Canadians, have a better system?! Hello, wake up! We have a fucking monarchy.

Right now there is no Ron Paul equivalent any where in the world. The establishment is playing dirty, so RP has to use fucked up rules to his advantage too. I bet if the vote count was actually legit, RP would be 1st or 2nd in all states.

CNN says that Romney got one more delegate than RP in Maine today, a very close straw poll race tho.

Anyone know if that number is going to turn drastically or what it's going to be soon?

wow, he almost pulled it off in Maine. Pretty interesting to say the least.

EDIT: WOW, apparently they cancelled a whole fucking county and he would have won the state had they counted the votes. Link to come.

Maine is another non-binding caucus state. The delegate election process will not be over until the state convention in May. That is just another estimation dividing the number of state delegates that will be elected by the straw poll results.
