So is CNN just lying or is there an official Delegate count out there that doesn't reflect the real delegate count?
yea all this delegate talk is confusing me b/c every i've seen RP is always dead last when it comes to delegates

^Yeah, I believe it does. CNN is simply taking the percentage of the straw poll vote that Paul one and awarding him the same ratio of delegates in their estimates. Very misleading.
I see now why Paul and his Campaign manager have been very vocal about how well the delegate pickup is going... It's the way we can gain momentum by telling the world that "hey, we're actually winning!"

In caucus states there is a presidential straw vote at the beginning of caucus night and this gets all the news coverage.
The news stations take those results right away and divide the states number of delegates up the same way, but that is not how the process actually works.
After that straw vote delegates are nominated and voted on in every little voting precinct, the number of precinct delegates in a state can total in the thousands.
All of those precinct delegates will later go to a larger area county or BPOU convention and again nominate/vote between themselves on a smaller number of delegates to send to the state convention on another date.
The delegates from that larger county/BPOU convention will go to the state convention and again nominate/vote between themselves for the delegate spots that will be sent to the national convention.
