Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been executed by hanging at a secure facility in northern Baghdad for crimes against humanity.

Iraqi TV said the execution took place just before 0600 local time (0300GMT). A representative of the prime minister and a Sunni Muslim cleric were present.

Footage of him being led to the gallows was later shown on Iraqi state TV.

Two co-defendants, Saddam Hussein's half-brother and a former chief judge, are to be executed at a later date.

All three were sentenced to death by an Iraqi court on 5 November after a year-long trial over the 1982 killings of 148 Shias in the town of Dujail.

He got what he deserved...but too bad his punishment isn't going to make the situation any better in Iraq. If anything, it'll get even worse.

Here is where everyone gets super pissed off at me.

I feel saddam was a very very bad man. I think all the users here can agree with that. But, what is kinda silly is what he got charged with. He killed over 100 people because someone tried to kill him. If someone tried to kill me and I was president. They would die. Their family would die. Everyone that agreed with them would die. Its self-preservation. Its was never a democracy. It is nothing more than stalin did.

Now, no need to link me on the the other 10 million things he did which was a good reason to hang him.

I think Saddam was a fall guy, look at some of the other shit going on in the world today, mainly Africa, dont you think if our government was so worried about human rights and crimes against humanity we would have stormed Africa or North Korea. Anyway he was scum and got what he deserved, but the motives behind it are a bit shadey.

Actually they should have slowly poisened him, a gram of rat poison a day untill the fucker croaked, but whatever one less scum bag in the world today.
 
Who really knows if it even happened. All we see is a pic, and what they want us to see. This entire war wreaks of conspiracy.

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (APP): The United States and Britain will soon begin moving additional warships and strike aircraft into the Persian Gulf region in a display of “military resolve” toward Iran, The New York Times reported Thursday. The newspaper’s report, which cited unnamed Pentagon and military officials, appeared as the UN Security Council edged closer to approving a US-backed European draft resolution imposing sanctions on Iran for its refusal to suspend its nuclear enrichment activities.
The officials said that Defence Secretary Robert Gates was expected this week to approve a request by commanders for a second aircraft carrier and its supporting ships to be stationed within quick sailing distance of Iran by early next year.

Many U.S experts have said North Korea is at least 5-8 years away from having long range missles and 2-3 from having real nukes. Its all about money, it always is. The U.S knows the key to world power is oil.

The American dollar is already finished but this will be the final nail in the coffin. Obviously America isnt going down without a fight, hence war after war only this time, North Korea, Russia, and China already have a military alliance in place that if anything happens they will jump in.

The Selective Service System is planning a comprehensive test of the military draft machinery, which hasn't been run since 1998. The agency is not gearing up for a draft, an agency official said Thursday. The test itself will not likely occur until 2009. Meanwhile, the secretary for Veterans Affairs said that "society would benefit" if the U.S. were to bring back the draft and that it shouldn't have any loopholes for anyone who is called to serve. VA Secretary Jim Nicholson later issued a statement saying he does not support reinstituting a draft.

Why are they testing something they will never use according to them? 2007 will be an interesting year. I'm so pissed off at the way things are going I can't take it anymore. Happy new years BTW!!!
 
He shouldnt have been sentenced to death. He should have been tortured for the rest of his life. :repuke: By people pukeing on him :D
 
Hopefully they will hang Bush & Blair next. Both have killed more innocent people in Iraq then Saddam did! :eek:
