I made this video for the hell of it to show how prevalent this one particular chord progression is in modern music.

Some of the people I've shown it to say it's sort of difficult to hear the similarities unless you're a musician...maybe I should have spelled it out a little more. I know there are a bunch of musicians here so maybe you guys will enjoy it:

I know similar things have been done, but as far as I know this is the only one that uses the actual video clips. Shit took forever.

didn't watch yours yet but the thread title immediately reminded me of this video:

yup yup

this is something I realized while learning to play guitar. its so obvious once you start being able to tell a chord by ear.

also genres like punk rock are all mostly 3 chord / power chords songs.

Axis of Awesome: 4 chord song

Never seen the live version of that before, pretty cool. That's just basically the inversion of the 4 chords in my video, but then at 3:50 or so they switch to 6,4,1,5 like in my video and do some of the songs I used. I was planning on doing another video with that progression but this one took so much fucking time I don't think I'm up for it.

The thing about their medley is they're changing the keys and the tempos to make it work. Definitely sounds a lot better and more obvious that way, but I am a purist! They are pretty entertaining though.

I liked your video too. I'm not a musician though, so I kind of struggled to hear what you were driving at. I might listen to it a few more times in the background.

If it's not broke, don't fix it lol, I'm going to make songs tonight to these progressions lol

^Likewise. As someone who is a fully fledged aural spastic, I was left wondering what the hell that video was supposed to tell me. Although as someone who makes "music" I'd like to know/understand. :)
