Has anyone actually used this piece of shit? So today I went to the AT&T Store, and Verizon store to try out the samsung galaxy tab because I want to get a tablet soon. Wow is this the biggest piece of shit I've held in my hands in a while. I was trying to get something besides the iPad because no flash is somewhat of a buzz kill. But after seeing some of the other android tablets out now, I'd be glad to sacrifice flash over the shitty user experience of those tablets. (whatever else bestbuy has on display)

My two biggest complaints over the tab is, the screen is ridiculously small, and it's a not the best touch screen/android interface. The screen is just way too small, it's barely an improvement over a smartphone. Then the interface of the phone, or the screen, not 100% sure which it is on this one is rather laggy. Loading webpages isn't that great with the default browser, although dolphin is really nice, so that isn't even considered a strike against it. But the tablet is slow, the Evo, Incredible, Droid X are really fast phones with the sames specs as this tablet, so why does this thing suck? I couldn't believe how bad this thing was after how much hype it had.

Then I go over and play with the iPad, the screen is large enough to actually have a benefit over a smart phone, but it's still not a laptop or desktop screen. Then the interface and everything just flows so smooth, and it's almost bug-less. Safari is a lot nicer than dolphin, but it still doesn't support flash. But I would say I barely noticed that after surfing the web on it for about 15 minutes.

Which makes me wonder WTF is android tablet device makers doing? Is it that hard to keep up with the quality of apple's products? I've got an iPhone, had an Evo, and the main reason I switched was cause of battery life. I was hoping to get an android device back again. Guess not. Hopefully RIM can make the playbook as good as they made it seem.

I find it funny that for the past year many companies have been trying to blast through into the tablet industry, and almost all them end up either scraping the project or putting out a shitty product. This is all awhile how consumers were saying that some smart company will replicate the iPad, but include everything it doesn't have.

i have a colleague who has the tab and i played it with for a while and i found the experience exactly the opposite of what you described

I've only played around with the galaxy for a little while, and while I didn't think it as bad as you do, it does lack...polish?

Full credit to Apple, their control (and experience) over the whole device means they can give the user an amazing experience, the sacrifice being that you have to give in to some of Apple's more bizarre habits (eg. no flash).

Kinda sounds like the ipod a few years ago.

LOL I did the same thing as you and was excited for the samsung galaxy tab this christmas. But it sucked esp at flash!

heh , so I got ipads and will have to deal with no flash

iPad FTW. iPad 2 coming in April though so idk.

Yeah, I'll just wait for that...complete the apple fanboy look...MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPod, and soon iPad and 27" iMac...

The funny thing is...I try to get another companies product cause it's supposed to have more features...but it doesn't...So i end up going back to apple like a lost little puppy.

galaxy tab needs a lot of work and as u rightly said its not smooth. Played with it for about 2-3 hours and still prefer ipad. Honestly, just wait and watch for a better version and ipad 2.

I still feel these tablets are just nonsense gadgets we wont be using for long. There has to be something in between tablet and netbook, around 10 inch screen and a powerhouse

But why is everyone shitting around with Samsung. Do you even know that the Adam has started taking pre-orders?

You better watch out for IPAD 2, it will be equipped with a dual cam if so. A faster pro and a lot of improvements from the current version.

Yea I've played around with the galaxy tab and would take the ipad over it any day.

There are several apps for the ipad and iphone that allow you to play flash videos from websites, and when those don't work just use LogMeIn to connect to your computer.

or Jailbreak + Frash.

It really seems like a conspiracy how nobody else can put out a better slate than the ipad after all this time. I mean jeez, the latest Android phones are already much better than the ipad excepting only they're smaller screen size.

So this fact leads us to exactly two conclusions:

1. For some inexplicable reason, powering a netbook-sized screen in such a thin device is harder than anyone (except apple) thought.

2. Conspiracy in favor of apple.

I vote for #2. Dell and Samsung's entries this fall have been more obviously lacking than is explainable otherwise.
