I do think this guy does indeed have had something to do with Bitcoin. He has the exact education and skill profile, has the name, family and friends confirmed he was an anarchist/libertarian. Just a few too many coincidences.

I do think he is telling the truth about not being involved anymore. It is also quite possible he never finished the job. Could easily just be the other guys finished it up and used his name as credit to their teacher or something.

It's always the people who seem like they could never do something... that do it. You can't be serious right?

You know what happens here in Southern California when you call someone out on something like an Indian at a gas station overcharging you, or a mexican for driving without a license?

They instantly can't speak English. That's not racist it's just a fact. I've been with friends who have been pulled over and all the sudden they're just some dumb foreigner who doesn't understand the traffic signs.

It is totally possible that it could be him, and he has an entire alter ego setup to fool people.

I would think that of all people on this forum, someone like you who loves to babble on about crazy unrealistic shit, would be able to grasp this possibility.
 
On another note, while I am sure this is not the case with every person out there that has a high level of intelligence, some of the smartest people I have ever known completely lacked common sense.

You know, the guy that can design and launch a rocket but can't tie his own shoelaces.

It is entirely possible that Dorian, or one of his partners just made a really dumb mistake in using that name.
 
I lean towards this guy having worked on similar technology for his gov projects, then from 2002 likely started this stuff, others got involved, he backed out, they thought it would be cool to honor the inventor.

Even though it is a disgusting hit piece of an article, I do think there is plenty of indicies here. You have a guy with that name, working on encryption, with a known libertarian standpoint, very private and so.

He should sue Newsweek though, won't be long before the kidnappers show up.

If he really is sitting on a wallet with $120mm worth of coins in it, he needs to use that money to upgrade his life and secure him and his family. Staying in the little house near LA is not safe at all.

It's a fucked up situation either way.

If it is him, then he must have Aspengers or something to think he's been protecting his identity all these years using TOR and encrypted emails throughout several 100s of messages.

If that's the case, then he doesn't understand the depth of the trouble he's in. Satoshi has about a Billion dollars worth of coins. After the next price jump, he'll certainly be the world's richest man... Yet Dorian has the security & lifestyle of a welfare recipient. :(

This is the most ironically hilarious thing that could have been said on this thread. Thank you, Veritas!

(FYI: Virtuality is the exact problem that Satoshi solved and made computer science history doing so... Dollars are far more virtual than bitcoins!)
 
I just hope he quickly fakes his death, and secretly moves his family over to some beautiful tropical island, so we can all leave the poor guy alone.

Russia's Prosecutor General's Office recently made its stance on Bitcoin abundantly clear. "Systems for anonymous payments and cyber currencies that have gained considerable circulation — including the most well-known, Bitcoin — are money substitutes and cannot be used by individuals or legal entities," the office said in a recent press release reported by Reuters. Any use of Bitcoin will be considered "potentially suspicious," as the Russian government has linked Bitcoin usage to illicit activities.
