So yes... as in the title I want recommendations for scary movies. We are having a lazy weekend at home and I thought a movie marathon would be a good time. I like scary movies, the scarier the better. Don't mind the gore but if I had to pick I like psychological thrillers. I've seen a ton but I'd love to hear your favorites... I know there are some twisted mofos in WF :D

I'm a big fan of 80's horror movies...
Some of the still creep me out today.

Recently watched The Shining all the way through for the first time recently, great movie.

My dad let me watch King's "It" when I was literally about 4 or 5, had years worth of nightmares about that clown. Pretty sure that movie was a made for TV movie so a lot of kids probably inadvertently saw it.

I used to be a fan of the Hellraiser series and also Candyman was a thrill back in the day.

I watched it when I was 7 or 8 too. Couldn't sleep well for months :D I read all of Stephen Kings stuff when I was really young, raiding my dad's bookshelf. The Stand was my favorite. +1 for the Shining too

There are 5 movies that stand above all the rest and nearly made me shit myself.
- Blair Witch Project
- À l'intérieur
- The Descent
- Paranormal Activity
- [REC]

Some other amazing horror movies that aren't that scary:
- Martyrs
- The Skin I Live In
- I Saw The Devil

Far from scary, but fucked up indeed. One of the very few movies that I didn't finish. If you haven't seen it, don't watch it. You won't enjoy it at all.

I grew up watching old school Zombie movies etc, I loved the Evil Dead movies too. I watched The Grudge as an adult and had that "check under the bed" syndrome for awhile afterwards (then watched the Japanese version, better still.) One of my favorites as an adult was Stir of Echos (don't hate)

Cant believe no-one has mentioned it yet, but "The Exorcist" is by far the scariest movie I have ever seen. I don't even like the fucking thing on my TV. Something about that film.

The first Paranormal Activity is pretty decent.

The Ring was pretty good. I use to sleep with the TV on at night. Quickly ended that habit...

"The Last Horror Movie" (2003) it's not really scary, but the gimmick is kinda cool - If you haven't seen/heard of it, I recommend checking it out without reading up on it first.

"Sleepaway Camp" again not really scary, but it's full of lols.

"Black Christmas" (1974) Classic

And the Japanese versions of popular US flicks like Ringu etc. They always seem scarier to me, maybe it's the subtitles.

Takashi Miike's "Audition" should probably be in your list....
