this shit is amazing. it makes me wish that scientology was real. when I saw it on tv, I really wanted to look into what they were talking about. well, at least until I saw that it was scientology.

..."it can only be filled by one thing - the truth..."

Fuck You Xenu! You too Hubbard!

CHeck this if you haven't seen before;

To be honest, this commercial makes me want to investigate it more. Not that I could see myself believing what they do but a) as an exercise in open mindedness and b) as an anti- establishment exercise. I mean when I am honest with myself I say, what do I really know about scientology other than what's in the mainstream press?
And it's not like they are exactly telling the truth....
The glitzy marketing makes me very suspicious but I am very much an anti-disestablishmentarianist (I swear that just came to my mind.....)
For all I know, someone on their board of directors may have pissed off the media giants and ever since then they've had it against these folks.....

I mean think about how the average person may think AM's are nothing but used car salesman/scam artists - they heard about someone who heard about someone who had a rebilling problem or got scammed back when the internet was still new in '97 and ever since then they've been "sold" on the idea that people doing business from home online are into something shady.....
Just saying - as the scientist credo goes "accept nothing as fact - question everything" - that goes for folks who sound crazy with their talk of volcanoes and aliens and such......

Are we not all doing something shady??

i would encourage anyone to walk into a church and maybe learn a bit about the religion before judging it, but a cult with a strong history of not taking no as an answer....probably not such a wise thing to do.

I agree 100% But to play devil's advocate, Christianity when it first began was considered a cult (just read up it's all there). Now I won't lie and say I don't think their stuff is out there, I'm just saying you know I want to talk to a current or ex scientologist or read some more balanced info before I render a decision....

Having said all that, their actions probably confirm what I'm inclined to believe anyway. The fact that they won't be more open makes me think basically all the shady shit that's said to be going on with them is true...
Also I don't like those personality based religious groups as they tend to basically have some egomaniac, womanizing crazy who's using religion to get hold of people :S

I did. :xmas-smiley-016:

A friend and mine walked into the main Scientology church of Germany, located in Hamburg. We took the guided tour of the L. Ron hubbard museum and listened to their spiel.

In the end, scientology is almost as fucked up as the catholic church, a definitive no go for any one with an IQ above breathing level.

Towards the end, tho, I witnessed them reeling in their prey.

We were sat down at a table while they tried to sell us their religion and - even more importantly - their overprized books.

While my friend told them to fuck off, I listened in on a conversation on the next table.

Sitting there was a young guy (~16, maybe 17), who was utterly lost in his apprenticeship. He had moved to Hamburg, didn't know anyone and had a hard time with the colleagues.

Needless to say, he had victim written all over his face. And they were gutting him like the piranhas they are.

I've always thought this, but your a religious nut job.

Why the past tense? Many people still consider it a cult, it has all the marks. Ritual, ceremony, prayer, worship, brain washing, dressing up etc etc. If you look at it from an outsiders perspective, scientology is on a similar level of fucked upness as christianity, and both are cults.

I think the two are a little different. I think christianity was a genuine sort of grassroots operation when it first came about, and it didn't start becoming manufactured until the early christian powers realized they could monetize it. I could be entirely wrong on that point. still, we know that scientology is an entirely made up religion that some douchebag science fiction hack came up with one day.

it wouldn't even bother me so bad if it wasn't so malicious. you have to pay to become a member. at least with jebus the payments are optional.

They probably have search spiders reading this thread right now. A very fucked up, secretive and dangerous organization if all the articles written about them are true. While it is a great advertisement, the fact it's for scientology worries me a bit, but yes, a lot more people nowadays are waking up to the fact that all(/most) religions are a con.

Ah yes, the weekly religion debate.
