Only difference is that his plateholder in the back was a leasing company while I paid cash for my bimmer last year.
The audi isn't a 4x4, it's an overweight car with all wheel drive. A 4x4 has a frame.

So you think that a new rear bumper, bumper cover, tail light, rear quarter panel (which needs to be welded on), some body work or time on the straightener and paint is going to be around $5,000 you say?
Hell just the cost for a new rear bumper and bumper cover and painting for a non bmw will cost you north of $2,000.... Unless you want a Maco paint job for $300 for your entire car - you are going to pay quite a bit for a quality paint job.
Your paint costs are still way off.. And you probably aren't way too off, if mGrunin would accept aftermarket replacement parts... But I am guessing being a late model car, he's going to want genuine BMW parts. Which will cost a LOT more.
You also forgot the cost for a rear quarter panel. That isn't just something they pound out.. They literally have to cut out the entire quarter panel and WELD on a brand new one (after which that nice OEM vin sticker, which is a pain if not impossible to get off the old one, won't be on there), further diminishing the resale value.
