So if you are into SEO and link building...
What are your thoughts on performing duties for a share in profit?
Have you ever done something like this, and it worked out well / you got paid?

Would it have to be something you are really interested in (Not performing the services and what not, just the general topic of the site)

Thanks

I wouldn't do it.

I can put up a decent site pretty quickly and then link building is ongoing. So the link builder is the guy doing most of the work.

also, people expect very quick results. They may dump you when they dont get that, and all your hard work is taken credit for by the snake oil salesman that promises fast results and replaces you.

I've heard of people good at the traffic side of things sending traffic to someone good at the affiliate side of things. It requires a lot of trust, but if you can generate a lot of traffic, sending it to someone in high standing at the affiliate network (who can get bumps) can work in your favor. Just pay them a small commission so you both come out on top. Maybe they'll even make you landing pages. It works especially well if you're in some foreignass trouble and have problems getting into networks.

I would never do anything for "a share of profits" you are just begging to be bent over if you do that.

ye i agree with the last post

make sure you get a tub of lube aswell if your gonna do seo for a profit share

Case in point (not SEO, but related)

I was working for a web development company. My boss was approached by one of his friends who needed a pretty frontend for a DB site he was just about to launch. (Making fun of the demise of a competitor - aaahh.. the days of the first bubble)

Needless to say, boss agreed to HTML and design for later adspots / traffic.

So I design and code HTML for one week solid (on my boss's money)

Come the day I am finished, the other guy just says "Awww..fuckit, we messed up the DB big time, we are not gonna launch anything.

I still remember the screaming and cussing - no lube.
