We're aware of the ranking issue and nearing a solution.

Nice update, liking lots of the new features.

A couple of things I'd love to see:

1) The ability to turn off pagination at the domain level. I've got about 30 domains that I track in one group, and would like to see them all on the same page.
2) SEScout remembering the keyword sort method chosen (upon a refresh), or being able to set a default sorting method. I personally prefer "Top Ranking" sort.

Glad you like. Submit a feature request for the above.

not sure if the rankings issue has been worked out yet but the majority of our stuff is off quite a few posititons. Sending pm with our username so you can take a look at it.

I'll check it out for you. We're working on the rankings right now.

I'm actually kind of hesitant to post this based on the response here: http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/114811-my-sesscout-review-experience-truth.html#post1154223, but I'm going to post anyway.

I have to be honest, I'm not really thrilled with this update. It's not because I don't want additional features, but because I feel features are being added on top of a system that doesn't work consistently. It seems like these new features take precedence over a stable system. I don't need any features other than basic rank tracking and your service hasn't been the most stable for this. At this point, I'm seriously looking at switching to another service. I'd prefer not to have to do this, but I need a service that works.

Here are the problems I'm seeing regularly:

Bing results are "gathering data" at least 50% of the time for me.

Ranking is regularly off by several positions (up to 10 or so positions) on dozens of keywords. I realize there can be some variance due to different data centers, but I don't think that is the case here. Others have reported the same problem.

There are a few other minor issues, but these are the big ones for me. I'd really like to see a focus on getting your existing service stable and less emphasis on adding new features until that happens. I understand there can be issues with scaling a service like this, but it's something that shouldn't impact paying customers as much as it has.

We're experiencing a number of issues with our server provider. We will be upgrading our hardware which (hopefully) will resolve all of the current ranking issues.

I can only wish to be in any position to fuss about styling issues etc :(

v 3.05

I have to be honest, I'm not really thrilled with this update. It's not because I don't want additional features, but because I feel features are being added on top of a system that doesn't work consistently.

I promise we aren't trading stability for features. On the day of the first planned release of this new version we had completely unrelated hardware issues so we pushed back this new launch until we understood how to fix the system. All hardware is fixed and we are running things in diagnostic mode until midnight at which time things will be back to full speed.

Fixes
Just rolled out 3.05 which:
  • fixes keyword user rating stall out (ranking works now)
  • adds support for turning off domain pagination
  • adds support for expanding domains by default on page load

more fixes to come; pushing them out as they are ready.

SEscout version 3.06 now live

Here is another bug fix release that should make a lot of people happy.

Most notable changes:

  • URL found for keywords added back as before with new optional ability to view this column under the "keyword columns" button as well
  • User ranking stars fixed in FireFox
  • User timezones honored correctly
  • Gain/Loss arrows added to new PDFs and email reports
  • A large amount of various display fixes

To see the full list of changes, just view the changelog on the site.

All of my domains are stuck in "Gathering Data" mode.....

We are migrating all of our servers over to a new platform right now. The current platform is nightmare and wont allow us any expansion. Hang tight, migration should be done today.

lol. How much are they paying you to beta test their systems Berto.. Well hopefully things will get fixed soon enough.

Welcome to wickedfire. How was your three year hibernation? Great first post. Extremely helpful.

We are very aware of the recent bouts of missing/incomplete rankings that some users have been experiencing. For those that aren't interested in a reason, servers are being migrated at this very moment and this will all be a thing of the past very soon.

For those that might be interested in what's going on behind the scenes at SEscout, allow me to enlighten you. When SEscout first launched into beta (almost 6 months ago), we made the decision to host our server racks at The Planet. This seemed like a wise choice at the time, they we're basically the uncontested champion of the server world. Things were great at first, we were promised scalability and easy access to upgrades. The first couple months were basically rock solid, then out of the blue, The Planet announces a full buy-out from Softlayer. Not only are we now stuck with a maze of intertwined control panels and billing systems, we completely lost our path to easy upgrades and scalability. You see, even though Softlayer and The planet are now one in the same, their entire infrastructure is still completely separate.

After about 30 days of random network outages and strange unexplained behavior, we've decided it's time to migrate everything over from the "old" softlayer (the planet) to the new one. Why not sooner you ask? Basically we've been exploring every option of scalability at our disposal alongside maintaining SEscout, not to mention nearly triple the expense in server costs.

We know data-reliability is a hugely important aspect of the service we provide, and it is of up-most importance to us that rankings are provided accurately and reliably each and every day.

SEscout is charting unexplored waters when it comes to hourly rankings and the absolutely massive number of pages we are searching on a daily basis.

Migration is happening at this very moment and we hope to have it completed before the end of the day. Thank you to all of our supporting customers that have been extremely patient with us over this past month. It should be smooth sailing from here on out.

- Ryan

We are in the process of migrating our servers at this very moment. In order to prevent data loss, we are temporarily disabling the ability to upgrade your account as well as add any new data until 3 PM PST.

You can still login and view your existing statistics at this time.
