Speaking of cool inventors...

I wouldn't have been so patient with that moron. I would have kicked him off the set. He deserved to fail.

He was not even near failing. While he may have over-analyzed the situation and offers the company would still have a killer product with stellar revenues for years to come.

This dish lid guy will be a failure in business, it's just his personality, he's gonna piss off the wrong biz person and he will get crushed.

These people who come in offering only 5% equity (like the lid guy) makes me think they have no plans of getting a shark on board and only want the TV advertising.

If that was the case with this guy, I wonder if he was a bit shocked when someone the big offers came in.

Had to make this gif,

Maybe the case for others, but this guy definitely wanted a deal otherwise he wouldn't have taken than 8% deal.

Great product, should have dealt with things a lot better. Extremely disappointing outcome for him unless Lori comes through with the line of credit.

My bet is that that deal doesn't get done in the end and he just agreed to it for extra screen time.

The dish lid guy was a cocky kid from an Ivy League school that thinks he's too smart to fail. His ego would be a pain in the ass to deal with, but he does seem to have a lot of hustle in him and a great product. It cracked me up when Cuban played him by not making an offer.

She gets an A+ in manipulation.

I can't understand what he was doing. When he came on asking for $90k for 5%, and then later said he'd only take $750k for 5% I figured he just wanted the free publicity of the show - he didn't actually need the money. When he then really seemed stressed out and took a shit offer, worse than what he came for, it meant no sense.

He has a great product and a ton of potential. He should have stuck to his guns and walked away. He would easily get an investor somewhere to give him better than a $1million/valuation or whatever he settled for.

Abolutely! It was, indeed, the emotional manipulation that worked wonders for the woman. She wasn't just making faces. It was an expression overload. Sudden overwhelm further bursting into distress/tears. Not very hard to make out.

On the other hand, her product doesn't look so appealing though. Maybe a few sales for the Shark Tank hype, but that's it. Most moms'd prefer keeping their kids indoors during the scorching summers.

Also the last guy seemed to be there just for the airtime. He's got a brilliant product that expels a common need of every household. He's got initial success. He seems to be taking the offer, but we have no idea what ends up behind the scene.

I am sure investors across America must've already begun contacting him to discuss a potential investment.

They're contractually obligated to accept the deal if a shark offers them what they want.

The guy came in with a valuation (based on his requirement) of $1.8m.

Lori offered him almost a $3m valuation. Damon offered him over $3m.

Then he told them he REALLY wanted a $15m valuation.

Doesn't make sense unless he just wanted the free advertising, or some other scheme. I can't say I blame him because shark tank is amazing for sales for anyone that shows up.

You gotta remember they take something 5% equity just for appearing on the show, so it's definitely not 'free advertising'. I think the lid guy took the 8% deal because he knew he'd need a line of credit and couldn't get one from the bank for whatever reason.

I also think when Lori said he didn't need the inventory before an 'as seen on tv' campaign sparked his interest and he wanted to at least find out WTF she was talking about.

That first chick totally manipulated the sharks and the audience, I knew what she was doing and I was still hoping one of them gave her a deal. Disgusting that Lori only asked her for 25% - my guess is she wanted the positive PR and has no plans on actually following through with the deal otherwise she would have asked for a lot more equity.

Also WTF is up with dragon's den canada? is that shit still on? can't find any of the new eps on youtube, somebody link me the last 3 if they've still been running

That first woman with her bullshit crying routine. That kind of crap pisses me off that someone caved into it. That's the same kind of bullshit when a woman tries to use sex to get what she wants. Throwing dignity and integrity right out the window, and people fall for it constantly. I'd have been like "I want 1% equity, and I'll give you $3,000, but you have to let me slap the shit out of you one good time on TV. Two consenting adults. I'm going to slap the fire out of your face. Deal?"
