I'm looking to switch shopping carts (currently using 1SC) and wanted to get some opinions. My main concern is customization of look and feel. It either needs to be very flexible so it can fit in seamlessly with my templates or have the option to have the forms on my server with SSL.

Looking at UltraCart and Volusion. Any experience with those (or something even better)?

volusion is a bitch of a time to setup but a solid pro checkout cart..... if u have the $ pay for them to do the entire migration...it'd be worth your frustration/wasted time

If customization is a priority, you can't really go past a 3rd party cart, perhaps something like Home - Mal's Ecommerce. Not the prettiest way to do it, but in my experience will not affect any conversion rate.

If your looking for an ultra light shopping cart try ejunkie. I second Magento as well.

anyone know what cart runs buycostumes.com or yumdrop.com ?

Might be custom..... but I'm not sure.

Heres a question for ya'll

I am in the same boat of wanting to rebuild one of my ecommerce sites from the ground up. If all link URLS and Meta tags stay the same after i switch the software the site is running on, the design etc do you think SEO will be negatively effected?

Thanks for the input guys. Magento looks quite good indeed but might be a bit of overkill for I need. This is a minisite selling one product so nothing fancy necessary. Just need the form fields of the cart to blend into my template.

Right now 1Shoppingcart can't do this well unless you have a white background for your entire site. My cart abandonment rate is 97% (yikes) so the awkard look may be to blame.

@brentdev. Can you elaborate a bit on Volusion being a bitch to set up?

Thanks.

Magento is really nice, but is definitely overkill for 1 product. You should change you original post to include this. There are not many carts made for simply for 1 product. You might be better off using something like 2co or ejunkie for the checkout page only instead of a full blown cart.

You're absolutely right. My bad. I should have been more clear with the details.
