Should the minimum wage be raised?

I fully support minimum wage being raised to $200/hour. Why are we dragging this shit out?

If they just raise minimum wage all that would cause is lower income workers to have more money. With the increase in money comes increase in spending, which would cause more demand in the economy. In the rules of supply and demand, here comes higher prices.

tony, if i were you, i'd block mises.org or at least treat it like a porn website - browse through for no more than 5 minutes then spend half an hour wondering what the fuck i'm doing with my life.

I got into a debate today with a friend, who's an otherwise really intelligent person who said...

Minimum wages are not about keeping people out of poverty, but about ensuring that the working class doesn't completely starve to death.

problem is, if you have no minimum wage.. instead of 20 million mexicans in america youll have 40 million.. cause regular lazy american wont wanna work for 3 dollars an hour. while a mexican migrant will be happy to work for 3 bucks an hour since it will still be better then what he made in mexico. income equality would go thru the roof.

A+ in economics, have you thought about teaching?

that's scaring, absolutely no joke!
working class must spend the money to keep the economy running. Cut that class, and economy stops working. unfortunately, no morals involvement.

That is frightening, simply no laugh! Working-class should invest the cash to keep consitently the economy operating. Reduce that course, and economy stops operating. Unfortuitously, no morals participation.

I'm a little confused about the minimum wage. Or wages in general. Inflation keeps going up, prices keep going up, productivity keeps going up but wages remain the same. If people are earning the same amount of money but can buy less with it isn't that bad for the economy?

Nope. It's bad for those who aren't making money.

Ideally, it will weed out the garbage, and those who aren't making money are forced to be productive so they can make money. :love-smiley-086:

Stuff like inflation is caused by stupid shit like minimum wage increases because it de-values the dollar.

i dont think the minimum should be raised, I think we need to cap the maximum @ 75k a year.

Hows that for mind fucking this whole conversation? Deep thoughts, deep thoughts....
