silver

damn straight son! closer to 30% tho .. but still i'd like to see that cash do anything like that in my bank account!

i'm pretty stoked with that investment, and fuck that guy that was talking shit on silver in this thread, i'm too lazy to look up his name

mortgage-backed securities used to be a good investment, people made shit tons of money - but what happened again? refresh my memory

they can easily be compared, the tech bubble was fueled by an artificially high amount of venture capital flooding into the tech world, similar to the overprinting of dollars.

Overprinting of dollars = loss of dollar value = higher silver prices? i don't understand your comment.

Tech bubbles happen when VCs are investing in every single idea they hear. When everyone and their brother starts buying silver, then i will agree there is a bubble, but the weakening of the US dollar is going no where

again, another bubble everyone and their mother was buying real estate b/c they couldn't lose. Buy a house wait a few year then profit? Once everyone did it, the shit hit the fan

when silver is pushing $100 and starts making media headlines and everyone jumps on the bandwagon, then we'll have a bubble. To say silver is in a bubble right now is retarded, gold maybe, but silver is catching up

Silver is making headlines, and everyone and their mother is talking about it. The people who make money are ones who recognize a bubble and get out, the people who lose their ass miserably are the ones who say exactly what you just did.

do you have any mass media coverage that focuses solely on silver? can i see it if you do? all i see is silver mentioned in with gold.

i guess i'll have fun losing my ass miserably then. but i'd be glad to see silver drop back down to $15-16 ... i'd happily buy more, but i don't see that happening ... how could you?

why do you think its a bubble? relative to gold, its still cheap.

I think at this point and time everyone should be investing some kind of money into gold or silver. I wouldn't even look at it as trying to make money off it. More or less just a fail safe just in case shit hits the fan with the economy. If you have 5-10k you can afford to spend on gold and silver then I would buy some. If you can't afford to spend that kind of money or if your looking to make a gamble on it you better do your research.

technically in a historical context, but I don't think the multiple of gold to silver is what really matters. It's still a supply/demand thing, and silver is far more abundant than gold. One possible situation is the currency that commodities are based on shifts away from the dollar (which would be catastrophic for the US), which would kill silver 'investors'. I'm really hesitant to call people who ride a bubble investors.

but its not far more abundant. in the earth , gold is 16 times as rare as silver. above ground gold is only (at most) 6 times as rare as silver and may even be less rare.

if the currency that commodities are based in shifts away from dollar, silver is going up through the roof. I don't follow your logic.

I wouldn't even waste your time trying to explain investing to these morons who all copy each other and advertise via farticles, etc.

I bought 100oz of silver for $9.50 thanks to Microsoft's 30% Cashback promotion for MSN search PPC ads.

Not sure if it was intended, but you could get 30% back on Ebay purchases by clicking Ebay ads in the search results. Wouldn't be surprised if smart "abuse" and arbitrage were the reasons why it was shut down so quickly.

500% increase.

I'm pretty lost as to how people are asserting that precious metals are a bubble against the dollar.

I guess these people are going to be surprised by graphs like this:

NominalDollarValueChart.jpg

Which are just as accurate if you scale them to the past 50 years.

Then go read this: Economic bubble - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bought a lot with my gf at $40 an oz. Shit is starting to grow in price wayy too fast. Some ppl will say that this is because silver is a bubble. I say dollar is going down. Probably going to be a very interesting year, 2011.

You guys haven't experienced hyper-inflation so it is hard for you guys to even imagine currency going to shit in a matter of month. But, what on the earth can stop dollar from collapse? I say fuck the dollar, let it collapse, let our lifestyles go through a major correction. It will be for the better in the end. =)

Silver is good, but it might be time to start buying food.

well

#1 I dont use farticles, and you know nothing about my business, fuck off

#2 I've been telling wickedfire to buy silver for a year and a half and its more than doubled since then- http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/77309-gold-broke-1200-today.html

#3 I said it was way undervalued here in this thread almost 2 months ago and since then its up nearly 40%. Where is your thread with investment advice that worked out?

It's nice hitting a hot streak, but the tables all eventually go cold.

i agree, i could definately put my foot in my mouth in the future ... but i still do not consider this a bubble. this current bull run from 40-47? yes ... but the rise of silver prices over the long term .. no

silver isn't an investment, moron. it's insurance. lrn2differentiate. as insurance, it doesn't matter to me what the price is doing.

good luck with your speculating...

Its been a fun ride up in the last couple weeks, but I think silver is probably due for a correction. Bernanke's gonna come out and announce the end of QE2 and the market will take a shit, especially commodities and PMs. In reality, the Fed won't have any choice but to continue with some form of QE (whether they announce it or not), which will be good for silver. If you've got physical and are holding long term (insurance like jenzkc said) I wouldn't worry too much about it - the big picture still looks really good for all precious metals.

With that said, I'm taking some profits now that we're closing in on 50, just in case.

Also, for people talking about a dollar collapse in the near future - I wouldn't hold my breath. I think we'll probably see more trouble with the euro and possibly yen before the dollar, in which case people will flock to the dollar as a safe haven. I think the powers that be in this country are going to be able to draw this out a lot longer than people expect. Of course the dollar is fucked in the long term, just gonna take awhile to play out.
