Why the fuck else would you start a white heritage society other than you believe that white people all have something in common - such as our heritage. We don't - there is no "White heritage" because we're not all the same - we have Italians and Germans and, etc... and if you wanted to celebrate all of that you still wouldn't call it White; you'd call it European...

Calling it White inherently places value on the color component, which is racist.

Those Black heritage groups you're thinking of, such as the one this entire thread is about, actually self-identify as "African-American" groups. This is fine, just as a European group would be.

Black history month, also called African-American history month, is about Africans. Indians are black as hell and they're not allowed to party. We call it the former just because African-American doesn't really have a ring to it.

I'm assuming MediaBuysEyez is the person you quoted.. Anyway, I wouldn't care if they never had another Black History Month again, because Black History here in the US is American History, but it was created out of the need to teach history that wasn't being taught by the dominant group. Parents should be teaching their kids the history every single month, my parents did. They didn't just reserve it for a random month. Indians can and do celebrate their heritage and have a month, November, dedicated to it: Native American Heritage Month 2011

What does it matter that there's a Black/White/Asian/Etc. History Month/Event/Group/Etc.? If people want to discriminate based on race, let them do so in peace.

As long as they keep your hands off my person and property, why should I - or any of us - care that others want to congregate with their own kind? All of us discriminate. Some do it based on race. Some do it based on age, gender, political affiliation, sexual preference, and boob/penis size.

Having a "Black History Month" is pretty racist, and I don't mean towards whites. It's pretty fucked up for the Government to sanction separate but equal history months to only honor people of specific races. It's also somewhat patronizing to blacks to send the message that the achievements of their ancestors aren't worth acknowledging year round along with everyone else.

Just another example of the misguided, misplaced white liberal guilt that does more harm than good.

All liberals do is demean blacks by telling them that they need special treatment in order to succeed in life, and that they need a special set of rules to compete against others in business and education. They send the message to young black kids that they can't compete without special help from the government. How exactly is that supposed to be good for them?

But when a Conservative or Libertarian tells blacks that they can and should succeed on their own merits that's somehow racist? My mind is so full of fuck on that one.
