hehe I should address this too. The first time I was reading through it I was like wtf?? I knew there was some good info in there so I tried again and things clicked.
To put it into other terms, these guys are so stuck in their own little 'developer world' that they think everything resolves around them. In actuality, they are marketing the information to the wrong people. This might be a good report for a CEO that doesn't know the web from his ass crack and wants a really expensive overview of what kind of technologies are being used and what the geeks are up to.
What shitepoint is doing is like trying to sell a sack of potatoes to a potato farmer. Personally, I don't care what other developers are doing or how they are building their sites unless I get some detailed information on their methodology. Stats only touch the surface and are essentially worseless.
To sum things up: rip off, la la land, clueless marketing, greed etc.
