So I have been on CL the last 3 days looking for a new place to live when I found....

Good for you guys to be able to live the lifestyle. Impressive as shit. I hope I'm on my way to that kind of freedom.

I'm broke as fuck and so are most of the people here, don't fool yourself. Me moving into a $3k a month house is NOT the right decision, I belong in a fucking 1 bedroom $800 a month house but I have no self control.

Same, food stamps are what allow me to spend so frivolously on accommodations.

I dunno man those houses look huge. And as you said, it's not the most financially responsible thing on your part to spend that kinda money on a big house.. so why do it?

In fact, you should come to England. Crap weather, everything about 75% more expensive and your money gets you this:

4 bedroom house to rent in Knaphill, Woking, Surrey, GU21

That's my local area.. :music06:

looks like the american dream

Aspen Glen Home - its in aspen and it's fucking retarded nice, but its a bit too expensive I think...but fuck it is def nice.

It is not Aspen, it is 30 miles from Aspen in Carbondale, which is a really quiet and boring place. I've driven past that golf course dozens of times and it looks sweet, always wanted to play a round but is nothing else around there in Carbondale. There is a river that cuts right through the development with houses on both sides of the river banks. The place is full of McMansions which I would guess would be empty except for the weekends during the ski season. If you are going for beautiful views, peaceful and quiet, and a high-quality house then this could be it.

TRINIDAD OCEAN FRONT!!BEST LOCATION AND VIEW!!

I mean, the town population is like 350 people and the place is damn near in the middle of red wood national forrest...but cot damn son. And it's cheap.

I dunno, tempting as fuck...

Place looks awesome, specially the beach. I would be tempted to rent the place out just for the life experience of doing something totally different. Looks like the only decent size town nearby is Eureka. Not sure they have much nightlife but if you're with your girl, then it prolly won't be all that boring.

Living there by yourself you'd prolly lose your mind like the guy from The Shining, but since you have a girlfriend it might be a cool experience.

I'll look into it but don't they ass rape you on bandwidth? And isnt the connection fairly shit anyway? I've actually never tried tethering my laptop so not sure how well it works.

Good enough for him to play Starcraft on and run his webinars, so I doubt it's all that bad from a connection standpoint. Can't comment to the bandwidth issue.

*Pets OK with owner approval and additional deposit of $250 per pet. No horses, puppies or dangerous breeds allowed.

if you still have the german shepherd you're probably going to have trouble (assuming you tell the owner about) with some of the owners. They're on the insurance hit list as a dangerous breed.

Who wants a german shepherd when you can get a caucasion shepherd? Bet they never heard of it.

Good luck with your house hunting. When I move back to Texas I'm going to be trying to get a 4 or 5 bedroom house. I could get by with a 3 bedroom (not really fair to make 2 kids share a room and give one kid a room to themselves, but if they have to they have to) if there's 2 living rooms a living room and a nice den for an office. I'm hoping to be able to get approved for a mortgage and a house for around 250k that fits what I need or better yet what I'd like.

You really should get something for less than $2,500 a month with just two of you. That rent and space is insane for just two people. Live in something smaller and save the extra cash for a down payment on something you like. By the time you have a down payment saved you should have your credit repaired. Yeah, you'll live in something you might not like for a year or so, but after you'll have a really nice house you're on your way to owning that has room for kids if you ever have any. If you don't want kids there's really no point in owning a massive house. It'll just be a waste of money.

I think he means internet piped in via radio waves off a cell tower, not actually using his ATT 4G service. If so, that's what I have, it's slow as fuck. 3-12Mbits/second download depending on peak pr0n watching time over the network, 3-4 Mbits up. It's also about 20X faster than satellite, at least. If your house has a landline, you can probably get "DSL" over the old copper pipes, slower than radio wifi, faster than satellite. The price you pay for being able to fill your freezer off your property any day of the year, clothing optional.

Your crazy man don't rent out a 3k a month house...

You and your girl should figure out a city you guys want to live that isn't overly expensive. A big enough city where there's shit to do if you wanted to go out often. A city that's within 1-2 hours plane ride from a favorite vacation spot (like vegas or something). Rent a $1000 apartment (or house, apartment if you want to be in the city) in one of these lower cost cities (all you need is two rooms right? one for sleeping and one for your office). Then use that 2k a month you would be spending on renting a house, to go on little vacations every month.

Or you could do the smart thing and save that money or reinvest it, but I know how it is being young wanting to live that millionaire lifestyle. At least doing it this way will give you a chance to get out and do shit every month instead of blowing a lot of money renting out a house that's way too big for you.

I'm moving back to Colorado in the fall. I am looking at cabins in the mountains.

And yes, satellite internet is HORRIBLE (I had it when I lived out in colorado back in 2000). Say goodbye to online gaming. And no connection in bad weather. But the peace and quiet of the mountains makes up for it.
