I'm in CA, want a single box of contact lenses. Apparently the Nazi State Government won't let me buy them without a perscription. I know the numbers, I'm an adult, WTF. How can I get some? Another state is 6 hours away, shipping online is ridiculous. What can I do?

Look for a walmart supercenter nearby- they usually have optometrists there. Get their number and schedule a 'contact eye exam' approx. $75-$150. Usually give you a free pair and tell you to come back in a few days to check the fitting. Once you get that done, they will sell them to you on the spot.

Prescriptions are good for 1 year.

walmart, tell them your script, tell them you need some samples because you lost yours. Profit :D

Go to lenscrafters or D.O.C. at the mall and get a prescription. Usually about 80 bucks. It's the biggest fucking waste of money ever, especially since my prescription hasn't changed in over 10 years. I have to do it every year, after I forget that my prescription's lapsed and I can't get any new contacts.

I like to refer to it as the "eye tax".

One thing you can do, and I've done it before, is scam a "trial pair" of contacts from the eye doctor. I've been in a situation where I had to go to work (as a bartender... BAD idea if you can't see anything), but had no contacts... I pressured the eye doctor into giving me a trial pair that was very close to my presription and a different brand than i usually get even though they didn't have any of my prescription contacts available. Saved my ass.

Word of advice, don't get cheap contact lenses. You should get Acuvue oasys. I sleep with them for 2 weeks and have no problems at all. A box last me about a month 1/2 to 2 months. They are great contact lenses

I used to sleep with mine ALL the time. I don't know what I was thinking but I think at one time I slept with them 24/7 for about a month or two. Every time I woke up it was annoying because they would fall out or not be in place. About a year ago I just started taking them off every night, hopefully I don't get in that habit again.

It sucks but you have to get a prescription and I think my year of supply cost about $200. I usually make the supply last more then a year though. 3 more years until laser eye surgery!

WTF. How are you guys sleeping in them. If I fall asleep with mine on and wake up, I feel like I have glass in my eyes. They become too uncomfortable. I just take them off every night before going to sleep and put them on in the mornings. I believe that is what optometrist recommend also.

Each pair lasts me about 4-6 weeks.

On the day of my driving test, I tore my last pair of lenses by accident. So I had to take the test without them, and well I ended up failing within 2 minutes of it starting. Didn't notice a "DO NOT ENTER" sign. lol

Acuvue Oasis is the best shit ever. They are always hydrated and when I wake up there is no problems. I don't even feel them in my eye. Feels good in the morning waking up not have to put glasses and shit :bowdown::bowdown:

when I used to wear contact lenses a lot, if I slept in them, I woke up looking like a had chlamydia in my eyes. Just thinking about it is making my eyes water right now

You guys are champs who wear those all the time, I never pulled it off.

hahaha me too. When I'd sleep in mine, I would have to peel them off my eyes in the morning.

Somehow, my eyes have gotten better and I don't need them anymore (didn't really think I needed them in the first place)

This is what I have to look forward to. Always had better than average vision. That has come to an end. 2011 will be with glasses / contacts for the first time. Can't believe how fast the deterioratione inz vwissen isz gatkng worswzz.

I'm gonna try some of those this week. I stopped using them several years ago back when the latest was acuvue2. It was around the time I started spending 12 hrs a day staring at a screen. After 10 hrs they would start to dry out and eyedrops would not help. The only thing I could do is soak them overnight.

I've been taking them out every night for about a year now. It's a real pain in the ass, but I'm basically blind without them.

Isn't sleeping with them one of the worst things you can do? I mean, I take short naps with them but never sleep in them for long periods of time. Your eyes need to breathe. If you keep them in 24/7 you are starving your eyes of oxygen. At least that's what my doc tells me. Could lead to a lot of problems long term.

I'd like to get Lasik surgery but I'm too much of a pussy. I'm sure most can relate... lol

This.

I just never remember to take them out. I think I've had mine in for three or four days. No problems, no dry eyes, etc. I've been doing it for years.

Certain things you can't go cheap on -- and contact lenses are definitely one of those things.

Some people, apparently, can't sleep with them in because of the "shape" of their eye which doesn't allow proper air flow, with contacts in, so you get red irritated eyes if you have them in awhile.

I've had mine in for weeks at a time and never had a problem. And I know people who have done the same for years and years.

Unfortunatly you are required to have a prescription to get contacts, and your script is only good for a year. Sucks throwing away $100 on a eye exam that may or may not be needed. Even ordering online I still needed the script it seems.

I dont know how you guys sleep with them in, when I wake up they are always all fucked up.
