I gotta say, the allowing affiliates to design their own pages thing is a REALLY important one.
My subs that have a bit of free reign over their designs, they ALWAYS do better sales...

Yup, I want to put in a BYOT system. Also allow people to make it public for other affiliates and grab a small $% off it also(from my end, not the affiliates).
Affiliate networks are inherently flawed for so many reasons that I don't feel like getting into right now.
Rather than start a traditional "Affiliate Network", we run a number of in house offers that are private amongst ourselves. In other words, we don't work with affiliates.
This helps us to ensure quality, as well as not stir up competition for ourselves. Also 100% transparency with our clients means that they pay more for leads because they know exactly from where and who the leads are coming from.

Heres what I would like to see in an affiliate company:
- Easy API for accessing your stats
- Willing to go out and try to make deals with companies that I want and you don't have
- Not direct track
- AM's who actually know what they are doing. Out of all the AM's I've ever had, maybe 2 have been cool. Also AM's that don't act like your not worth their time of day when your making thousands daily.
- Ability to work and talk directly with the advertiser for custom campaigns and LP's
- Crack down on the shaving. Its ridiculous.
- A company that will hold the advertiser to the same standards they hold the affiliate.
- A company that PAYS. I don't want to have to beg for weeklies. I also don't want to worry about not getting paid if the advertiser manages to come up with some lame ass, minuscule reason not to pay me (example. they don't like your LP). If the advertiser is accepting my traffic for a few weeks, I expect to get paid for it no matter what. You can fix both these problems by having daily payouts.
