So I'm Moving to Buenos Aires

Have never been but have heard great things.

Including that you can get a $35 steak and $100+ bottle of wine in restaurants there for like $30-$40. My dad was there a bunch of years ago right when their currency was unpegged from the dollar things went crazy, he could act like a high roller and order some of the most expensive wines on the menu for less than he would pay for an average bottle in the US. Have heard it has recovered but is still very affordable.

Get some nice leather shoes, sneakers will make you stand out as an American (if that is what you are, sorry for assuming).

An ex gf of mine just moved down there last year. She loves it. I'd love to go visit but I don't think the current gf would like that idea...

I was there for 3 months at the start of the year. Cool city...

- Go to a football game
- Drink some maté
- Eat lots of empanadas and steak
- Drink lots of red wine
- Get drunk frequently
- Do get out of BA once in a while, easy to get stuck there

Working on my Spanish with Rosetta Stone
Give Michel Thomas a try as well. There's a couple of Spanish courses and the lessons I've done so far have been really good.

Living in Thailand at the moment but BA is high on my list of places to go next for a few months.

Thanks guys - yeah i'm doing rosetta stone to learn spanish, and everything i've heard thus far is amazing.

i got this place for $800/mo all inclusive. maid and everything.

Where did you find the place?

it's crazy cheap in BA - i asked some locals where to look. most of what you find online is short-term vacation rentals, so they gouge you hardcore for american skrills.

I don't get it right away though, i hafta float around for the first 2 months i'm there - one of which will be spent in Cape Town. So really it's a month in a so-so place before i get that one.

I really have no idea what to expect when i'm down there though - apparently it's really easy to get citizenship and all, so if it's REALLY nice, i'd totally consider buying something. We'll see, i'll keep you guys posted
