So i guess no one here likes the rich jerks material huh? Well then what the hell do you guys recommend? Is there an ebook out there that could actually show someone to make REAL money. *it'd also be nice to get it for free*

If you are looking for a FREE ebook by an established, successful marketer then look no further than Stone Evans ebook "Dotcomology". You can download it for FREE at the site located in my Sig file. It contains all the info that the Rich Jerk has in his book and it will cost you nothing but a few minutes of download time.

no one is going to show you how to make REAL money. You just have to get out there and start taking action

Dude seriously. Listen to what people are saying. All of those ebooks are worseless. Maybe one or two will help - like a crash course in adwords - (perry marshalls book or something) but that's about as far as they go.

If you want to make the real money stop spending time on ebooks and just jump into it.

spammers spamming spammers?

I remember a time here on the forums, that when someone used the "DARKSIDE" tag you would at least find something related to the dark side of AM or SEO........

You cant argue with success though

I argue with Success everyday. I never win the arguments though. Success would have made a helluva lawyer.

Nah, but then I would just end up robbing banks since I can't make any money on the internets, and my luck - I would be too broke to hire a lawyer after I get caught and the Judge would appoint my old nemesis Success to defend me. he would probably fuck me over in court just for arguing so damn much.

Yeah, I better give this some thought before I get myself in trouble.

Man, I hate that I'm going to post this, but I actually have something good to say about the rich jerk crap...

For what it's worth I'm sort of playing devil's advocate here with this story, and no, I don't recommend buying any ebook, particularly if you're already reading posts on this forum.

My gf isn't the most internet-savvy. We were trying to figure out ways to bring in extra cash, and she went off on her own and started doing things like signing up to answer those surveys and such. I laughed, but she was trying and so she started keeping it from me.

Around the time she stumbled upon the rich jerk stuff I had just started putting adsense on a wh forum site I run. Previously I had thought like most of my friends that it would be just pennies at most, and wasn't worth de-valuing my forum/portal site with ads, particularly since I am actively involved in that community myself. I immediately saw potential in the adsense stuff off that one site though, and started looking for ways to increase that revenue stream and add more.

Being not too internet-savvy as I mentioned, she fessed up when she saw that I was doing something similar to what was recommended in the rich jerk ebook. She gave me a copy of the ebook and I checked it out. By this time I had begun my own research as well so there wasn't much content in it that was useful.

That said though there was enough in there to give someone that wasn't terribly wise to the tubes of the internets a taste and to get them started in a quest for more knowledge. The fact that they called her offering hosting and setting up a site for her added some value, at least perceived. Granted they'd probably be creating yet another revenue stream for themselves had she done it.

Regardless though, I can see some small value in some of the ebooks for those folks that aren't familiar with the terminology and that haven't found a resource like this or some of the other forums. On their own 99.999% is utter crap, but if really just used as a starting point I think some may actually help people. My point being had she been on her own, and continued with it, it probably would have steered her to doing more research and eventually breaking away from it and striking out on her own and in other areas, at least in learning about them.

I'd be willing to bet that some here initially started with an ebook purchase and got some small something out of it leading them here and elsewhere. That said though, I expect that there are a lot of those that don't simply use it as a starting point and expect it to make them money - and fail miserably.

here's an idea:

Yeah.. was just thinking that! All ya need is to press the enter key every now and then. Thought they taught that in most ebooks - separate paragraphs makes it a lot easier for the reader than a big block of text.

I know what you are saying though, a friend has just bought one and from what she's said it seems to have provided a basic introduction. Nothing she couldn't have found for free, but then when you start it's knowing where to look. (I'm trying to get her to come here... hopefully she's lurking and reading!)

The problem I have is the way they sell these ebooks, they don't say "this will give you an idea of the basics of some IM techniques" they say "with this system I earned $50m - so can you". They target people who don't know any better and 9 times out of 10 try to get there customers to become their affiliates and con or mislead other people looking to make money online.
