1) Should you prioritize having people share (Like/Tweet) your site or (Subscribe/Follow) it?

2) Isn't it a little confusing to have two sets of buttons on the same page? FB Like, FB Subscribe (or FB Like the FB Page) and Twitter Tweet and Twitter Follow?

3) I would think there's less friction to get a person to share than follow. Correct?

4) I would think sharing buttons would be more appropriate for individual news/posts on a content site while the following buttons would be more appropriate for its homepage. Correct? Or have 4 buttons from 2 services on the homepage?

NO SHIT? Dude did you even read my post?

I try to avoid it. Every time I read one of your posts I can feel my IQ slipping, I'd imagine his feelings are similar.

Just think about it and you'll come to an answer.

Want long term engagement with that particular individual? You want a like. (So e.g. promoting a brand, or website, etc)

Short term virality? A share. (So e.g. promoting an infographic, or comic / meme)

How about you *really* avoid them and don't read them? I don't need your bullshit. Same for Staccs and anyone else who feels that way.
