Software/Method to Batch Rename 3000+ JPGs?

Anyone know a utility that can batch resize, overlay a watermark image and then rename?

google "rename master"...this is exactly what u need. It will allow u to rename files anything u want that then add a number by list position or date or any other criteria u want...trust me...i had to do this about a month ago

Anyone know a utility that can batch resize, overlay a watermark image and then rename?

Ifranview is what I ended up using for my batch renaming, but it also allows for edits. I would recommend doing the resize and watermark, then the rename... I felt like the edit+rename at the same time had a couple issues.

Anyways, use this tutorial (Guide: Batch watermarking photos in IrfanView 4.20 Victim of a Cereal Killer) in a normal File > Batch process. Looks like you just need to select Add Overlay Text in Advanced Conversion Settings.

Total Commander, not sure if it's the file or edit menu but 'multi rename tool' menu item should do the trick.

So, I've got a little over 3000 JPGs, and they're currently formatted in Amazon gibberish style:
aas56dAW3_ZsGbasd234.jpg
g5s7DjfgGaGZhse0LgS34s.jpg
etc.
I'd like to rename them all, from gibberish to:
product-keyword-00001.jpg
product-keyword-00002.jpg
etc.
Further more, I need a way to keep track of the change, like a log, so I can change the file name in my CSV file.

If I can find a way to batch rename the files in alphabetical order, I could sort my CSV in Excel by the file name alphabetically, and I think I'd be able to replace the file names in order. I'd have to be careful and keep backups but I think it could do the job well. But, I'd need a way to rename the files in order first for this to work.

Any ideas? I did a forum search and couldn't find anything on this...

I could write a script that does that for you for fun. I don't really endorse software products these days without some kind of formal agreement but it might be fun!

PM on the weekend if I have a free moment I can do it. It would take about 15 minutes to do it easily....
