Yeah it actually seems kinda weird. Almost seems as though it doesn't matter how hard or easy the keyword is.
Here are my current ones.
1. 90k exacts. Started 13ish. Bouncing between #2-#7, mostly 5-7. Not crazy competitive, but a bit.
2. 90k exacts. Started 20. Sitting around #11 right now. Again not crazy competitive but there is quite a bit.
3. 165k exacts. Started 227, Sitting 13-17 right now. Decent competition. None of the 3 are ridiculously competitive though.
So you'd think sites that started on page two should rocket to top 5, if not top 3. While there are are some here that are going from no where to top 10.
WIll also be interesting to see which get penalized. Will the ones coming from no where eventually get penalized? Will none? Will all?
I am sure I am not penalized "at the moment" because I rank for a lot of other keywords on inner pages. I just can't get past #13 for the keyword for this campaign. I definitely believe in this package and know that it works from what I have been reading here. My site is almost 3 years old and my backlink profile is pretty varied.

I do. Multi variate anchors or unanchored links, randomly swapping out volume, trying to make it look like a site that went viral and is now slipping out of popularity.

Good feedback. Two things:
1) Higher ranked sites move up a lot slower than lower ranked sites. A lot of ours we had to hit twice that were on page 1/2 to get them top 3.
2) I've been digging through some of the sites based on feedback in this and the last thread. Almost without fail, better sites are ranking super fast, lesser sites are not. I'm strictly speaking on site optimization and content quality/volume here, not backlink profile. Find this incredibly interesting and am going to test on a brand new site with a ton of unique high quality LSI content.
That's kinda what I'm thinking google does. As per that article above it took 3 weeks to get penalized. So I wonder if they originally take it as a viral site, so they see how it plays out. The above site didnt build anymore links, so all the suddent here's no new links coming in, so it gets penalized.
Ordered again, ranking 12th for a monster KW with a brand new domain - just 301ing it now to a bigger site with some domain authority/age to see if I can't get it onto the first page. Going to give it 3-4 days and then start blasting more links at it.
This new KW I am targeting is sitting around 6th, should be able to push up to 3 without to much drama I'd imagine.
