So yesterday, I'm traveling down a not very well known street, in which I have never seen any cops patrolling. The speed limit is 25, and unfortunately I happened to be going 60 when I passed two bike cops. I was pulled over by both officers, one being a Sargent, and was asked for my insurance/registration/drivers license (you know the usual). The police officer asks me to step out of my vehicle as he was going to read me my Miranda rights and impound my vehicle. ( In Nevada, if you are exceeding the speed limit by double, they can and usually will automatically arrest you and impound your vehicle ) So, one of the officers see my criminal justice books setting in the passenger seat of my vehicle and asks if I was going to school for it. I responded yes, I just actually completed my associated degree, and I intend on being a police officer, blah blah. The other cop looked and me and said we've heard this one a time or two, so if you can recite the first 10 amendments (Bill of Rights) I will give you a ticket for 30 in a 25. Well, needless to say, I knew my amendments and was obviously not arrested and received a $67.00 fine.
Thank god, I knew my amendments. And if you don't, maybe you should -- it saved my ass. Bill of Rights - Amendments 1-10 of the Constitution
Anyone have a similar story?
