I found some great free tool called SpyFoo, you may use it to:

- assess competition;
- analyze your competitors;
- search and research potentially profitable niches;
- build massive keyword lists with some supplementary data.

Have fun! :)

Anyone using SpyFoo already & what is your experience?

The thing that makes me nervous about these sort of tools is that they can be logging all your searches and gaining a competitive advantage on millions of search phrases

I agree man, there's no way in hell anyone would put a tool out like this and not log it..

Then again, what's to say every other program and site like this doesn't do the same.

Ok, maybe this is petty, but I was bothered by the URL "Foo", but the graphic said "Fu".

I mean sheesh, my 2 year old could do better than that.....

it's a good tool and it does log I'm pretty sure. I say that b/c if you enter a search that isn't in the database, it says it'll be updated and added. So it could then easily add all other searches.
Also, the searches don't matter at all, it's how good the data is that output. Just cause someone searches widgets, doesn't mean it's good. You also think the owner is going through millions of searches?

Good tool though, I use it a fair amount. Accuracy is a little off, but gives you a good picture.

Tools like this are pooping out every day but only small amout of them are useful to the masses. But they for sure are very useful for creators to find out what people are searching for.

How is a tool like this written? Does it use the AdWords API?

Waahhhh... I want to know this too, how are they doing it.. must be some API calls to an API I don't know about. I'd like to figure it out so when spyfu gets banned I can make my own tool for personal use // WF use :D

I like googspy too...i think its from the same company. (googspy.com)

SpyFu is the evolution of GoogSpy and the company claims that it offers 20x as much data. This tool is developed by Velocityscape, and powered by theirs scraping engine Web Scraper Plus+, which they sell for about $419. There is also a Lite version of the package, sold at $89 for a single machine license. If you plan to use SpyFu for your marketing research be aware of the last line in the homepage:
Special Note: During the beta period, data will be few months out of date.
