Past threads have focused on the merits (or lack thereof) of standing while working. This thread is for desk recommendations.

I'm looking to buy a desk and would like your recommendations. Ideally, I'd like to spend less than $700.

Here are a few contenders:

Uplift

Jarvis

Evodesk

Kangaroo Pro

Updesk

Crank

Conset

Varidesk

I'm leaving NextDesk off the list because they cost more than I'm willing to spend ($1,500+).

Do you own any of the above desks? If so, would you highlight some of the aspects you like or dislike about them?

Somewhat off topic, but EvoDesk has solid copywriting.

edit: flipped through a couple of their pages. i wouldn't even look at the other products and would simply spring for that one. solid design, solid materials. sold.

because standing still for hours is clearly more natural and thus healthier than sitting

I got a Geekdesk Max recently. It's a really great desk but prob more than what you want to spend.

The main reason I got it is because when I work on a project I can work for 12-16 hrs a day w/out thinking about it. Sitting down that long will just outright kill you after many years. But unfortunately I haven't had enough discipline to use the standing up part consistently yet. I'll need to work on that.

It's a sturdy desk and goes really high. You can put your arms on top of it and lean on it, whatever you want.

Standing all day isn't any better than sitting all day. Actually, it's probably worse, because you're just putting unneeded pressure on various joints.

We're meant to be moving around foraging / hunting, not standing still.

Thanks for the recommendation. I had forgotten about Geekdesk, and until now didn't know anyone who owned one.

I agree. I usually alternate between sitting, standing and walking. But it's a hassle making the transitions without an electric desk.
