Starting a new article site, getting over procrastination.

Thanks nick. Thanks emp.

Your both right, I am coming off a few big hits, I spent some time with a much loved person recently who will not be here for long. I basically got told that I am unemployable now due to a disability and I have to go on welfare, hit to the ego.

I am going to spend the week away from any web stuff. I am going to go bowling (I am disabled and suck but I love it all the same). I am going to get out and enjoy life for a week or so.

Already I am learning and I am learning that this is a game of belief and confidence and finding your own way. And I know I will, I just think I need to go smell some roses for a week or two, recharge the creativity and kill it. In fact I may just stay away for a few weeks to a month and not read and just do (after a recharge).

See you in a month or so with daily articles going up and graphs and shit before then.

Thank you for the mindset help you have sent my way, sometimes you get so bogged down by crap you do not realise how much you hurt yourself.

You appear to be approaching this entirely from the from perspective. The object is to create a reliable income stream - preferably one which is as hands-off as possible, not create the greatest website in the world - I guarantee you'll have changed your view on which is the greatest website within one year.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you'd like a boost / pointer.

edit: Just to say I thought it had to be troll reading through the first few posts too. ;)

There is a acute possibility that I am retarded, I wouldn't dismiss the idea for sure.

Wickedfire is rough, we mean well though. Tough love.

When I say written I mean I have done first draft and not edited nor found pictures.

Get the content in to Wordpress as soon as its edited. You can add pictures later.

Here is my problem. I spend time reading smart people here and they say things like drop a big block of content and then drip feed the rest daily. I may have written some content but its been slow going and I do not have that much I can put up.

Do you suggest I just start putting an article up daily or what. I am basically just following what some smart people here are saying. My first site was just like a kindergarden site that I worked on here and there with idea what I was doing.

Quality over quantity. To you its just content but to a site visitor is words, its the answer to their problem, its entertainment, or maybe even educational. Focus on quality over posting every day. I think once a week is a good rate.

You realize you can write content and put it into wordpress and tell wordpress a date and time to post it right? Just queue those mufuckin articles up at random intervals.

I spent time reading here and now I am being called a tard! It made sense to me because who wants to read a site with only a few artices on it?

All sites start with "a few articles on it." Put them up there, the faster you get content online the faster Google can index it and possibly start ranking you. Quality over quantity, tard.

Although I guess if I get articles going on now it means they may get seen quicker by browsers etc? I have been working in blocks, writing the content now so I can source pictures and other things at once and then I can set them to post.

Get the content up, worry about pictures later. That's easy.

You know what I am retarded because I did pick a silly thing to jump into but here I am and I am trying to learn this shit, I am just far slower than you guys. I should have just started a smaller site up and got the experience.

Anyway enough of me being a baby I will sort some daily postings for the week emp, I guess I need to stop reading some of the big guns here because I am getting some wrong ideas.

Baby steps. None of us became guru's overnight except maybe Grindstone, I think he was just born like that.

I've been making a lot of content sites lately.

1. Once you have a domain name and a server, throw up something. Even if it's just a blank page with your site's title. It takes a while just for google to even index your homepage and have it show up for a direct search.
2. Throw up articles as soon as you have a v1.0 draft. Nobody is visiting your site. Let googlebot see that content asap. Just edit as you go.
3. Don't worry about dripping content. Just post it. It's already dripping at the speed at which you can generate/buy content.

Don't overthink it. Remember, nobody even knows about your website including googlebot. It's incredibly premature to be thinking about "brand design" since it's distracting you from the bread and butter of a website: a website.

48hourslogo.com - for about $30 you get a bunch of people to compete on your logo, you choose the one you like.

Just my 2cents on the logo, even though you should be way past this point at this time. I hope that doesn't set you back or make you reconsider w/e design you already have (or have in mind).

I've been using WHT Logo | DryInk Design for logos. Probably the best bang for your buck within this price range.

Like the look of these guys, how much do they charge on average?

Would also like to know this.

I entered some bogus data and let it take me to the PayPal page to check out the pricing.

Here's the snapshot:

Well considering the prices other logo services cost, $55 is lunch money. Although looking through their work a-lot of it looks... recycled.
