How are you guys profiting from the doom and gloom with the stock market? Anyone shorting the hell out of stocks? I am sitting on the sidelines but was wondering what everyone else was doing to take advantage?

You can buy into a doubleshort ETF. I have a position in SDS (ProShares UltraShort S&P 500). It's jumped 10.7% today alone. This would have been a good one to jump into for just a day today.

Short Bank Of America. That mother fucker is going to hell.

It's already there. I'd even consider buying some BAC if it drops below the cost of a large cappucino at starbux, it's pretty close already ;)

i am buying this right now... :) america's biggest bank cannot fail... and if it does... i'm more worried about the money i lost

did this last time it crashed and cashed out at 15

I don't know what all the hype is here. Financial markets are "efficient" meaning that prices instantly reflect any publicly available information. Unless you know something that the rest of the world doesn't know, you're not going to make a fortune (outside of getting lucky).

Don't just buy it, buy naked call options on it so you're leveraged 200:1 to the index. I did that on the HIX (same thing but a Horizon ETF). It was about 10% of my portfolio, but hedged ALL of my losses for the day.

Then use your new found riches to buy all the stupid-cheap oil companies right now.

Ya, they are mismanaged as hell, but BAC is starting to look like an attractive bargain at these prices.

Besides, they are being sued by AIG. Being sued for shady stuff by AI-fucking G is like being called Anti-semitic by Hitler. Those guys practically wrote the book on shady financial dealings :)

What's the deal with BAC anyways? Ignoring 2B2F, is there anything inside that thing? Or is it just a zombie?

Anything can fail. BAC is a roller coaster, been trading it last year, one bad report after another made me sell with a loss. It may be worse the risk to take another look again though at this price, looking at risk/reward ratio.

i bought 10k shares... my adviser has been pretty good to me... last time this happened i made out...

the lawsuit is a joke and will take forever to prove/collect

and on paper the companies assets come out to 12 dollars a share and is selling for 7 dollars...

we shall see if this is a failure or not... hope it isnt... but i'm not playing with money i need to survive

ya, me too, @6.75 its hard to resist. hard assets are worth more than that, its trading at a heavy discount.

VXX

Its an ETF that is based on the volatility index. Up 15% today, did well last week, too.

ahh feels good buying a bunch of aapl, MA, and BAC on the dip... looks good today so far

edit: i buy stocks for long term

Got in on BAC at 6.75 as well. Nice stock to hang on to for the long term but might have to cash in my chips, Be nice if it were always that easy!
