I have a hankerin' to play some strategy games. What's your favorite one?

I used to play Age of Empires and Empire Earth a lot, I've been thinking about looking for a Star Wars game though.
 


Age of Empires was SICK.

Command and conquor is a similar game I think.

i had a friend with four desktops in different parts of his house and me him and two others would play age of empires II against each other for hours.

literally some of the best hours of my life

This! I spent so many hours on that fucking game.

Looking back on it - besides ex girlfriends who didn't put out and reading John Chow's blog - it was the biggest waste of time ever.

If your into wasting time and not making mo' monies than Age of Empires III might be your best bet for a pretty recent but solid strategy game.
 
I hear EVONY is always looking for new people to join their community. Hell, you might even meet the queen, herself.

Empire at War is actually pretty cool if you're a Star Wars geek like I am. Just having that music in the background makes me feel like I'm watching the movie.

And I like the idea of setting up computers around my house, I own 5...
 
RTS's are my favs, spent a shitload of time learning Starcraft, still play a fair amount of Warcraft 3 - Defense of the Ancients custom mod. Looking forward to throwing away a couple more months when SC2 comes out

RTS is great, but Civ 4 (Turn Based) is where the real strategy/God game is at.
These are pretty much the only games I like anymore unfortunately.

It's hard for me to enjoy any online game vs others when you know tons of them have serious cheats and hacks. Otherwise I'd love RTS and FPS much more.

Like Risk, but you can download hundreds of maps for all kinds of shit. I just took over Manhattan last night. Which is great because I did not get any of my creatives done, so at least I accomplished something.
 
Company of Heroes, best strategy game ever made.

The WC3 map DotA, more addicting than crack.

If you like AOE2, then I think Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is what you are looking for.

RTS is great, but Civ 4 (Turn Based) is where the real strategy/God game is at.

I think you might want to check out the game by Paradox, such as Hearts of Iron 2-3 or Europa Universalis 3. A real treat for people who like turn based strategies.
