I banged my wife on the first date. Still happy and going strong after 7 years.
I dated a chick who wanted to wait before her and that lasted a whole 3 month. The religious absurdity was something that made me lose respect for her.

Agreed that anyone who is waiting to have sex until marriage is most likely more religious than those who don't. Hardcore religious types in general take marriage more seriously and are more likely to stick in it through thick and thin because of moral, religious, and family pressures.
A man who is going to delay sleeping with a woman for six months is of course going to be in a "better" relationship. Any man who is willing to do that is pure beta most likely and will always cater to the woman. He will do everything she says, surprise her with gifts, fail every shit test possible, and he will be the best LTR the woman has had until...

Actually, an ex classmate from college did this all the time with the girls he really liked.
If he just wanted to fuck the girl, he had no problem doing it in the first five minutes.
On the other hand, if she constituted girlfriend material for him, they would date continuously for over 6 months without having sex, because he didn't want to, he believed that doing that will ruin everything he accomplished that far and he was always looking at a 6 trial period, despite the girl almost begging for sex.
He's currently with the 3rd or 4th girl that went through the same process, and surprisingly, all of his relationships lasted for over 2-3 years.
But again, correlation is not causation.

It has to do with critical intellectual stuff that goes on between two people prior to having sex. Basically, you want to reach the peak of that intellectual connection before having sex with her because after that your minds are largely occupied with the great sex you're having (or maybe not).
Either way, this doesn't apply to all. As they say, mileage may vary. The women you want to KEEP, don't screw them quick. It's just a rule of thumb. Someone mentioned their friend doing this and it's entirely correct.
