I feel dumb as an ass...pretty much normal these days.

Put up a wordpress blog, and tried to get a post scheduled for the future, and using a package, could not connect to the db on another server.

Read hostgator docs and they said add the ip of the other server, then drop and add the user back.

I did that, and now the whole blog is 403 and 404'ing on me.

The user and pass is exactly the same...I mean I fantistico'd wordpress the first time, then ftp'd down wp-config, and used those values to add back the user and grant full control to the db...

whole dang thing is 403'ing.

Anyone ever dropped and added a wp user and got it working?

I need to get this thing working with remote access...a real mystery so far.

foreign ip added...
user dropped and re-added..
all snafu'd.

Any wp guru here?

thanks...here's the answer

Thanks for the reply, and the resident homo for sharing his home vids...

Here's how I got the blog back...

ftp down the themes and plugins directories.
export the mysql db.

zap the blog.
recreate it with fantastico.

import the db (with drop table instructions)...
ftp up the themes and plugins directories.

Back in business.

Still perplexed about why the whole thing snafu'd just by dropping and adding a user...and I DID try adding a new user, and it didn't help (still 403'd on everything).

So wp 2.7.1 has something new in it...just gotta figure out how it new the user had been modified...

You should throw your computer away and get a new one. You've probably got the spinning dick virus which tends to fuck with wordpress installations.

If the problem persists after you login with your new computer, contact hostgator support and ask them to nuke mysql and install ms access for you. I think wp 2.7 is compatible with it.

Hope this helps.
