Subscription/Membership websites

Does anybody run any subscription or members only websites? I have a hobby that I have been into for the past couple of years and I feel that a general information type of site with a premium section would do well here. Any insight is appreciated.

I was thinking of setting up a drupal site with some extensions would be fine. Any other OS software out there for this kind of thing?

got a buddy that is running a porn subscription site, he made it himself out of joomla.

no free section just trailer vids and pics to convert sign ups.

the website is doing really good at converting. sex sells!

subscription sites are the only things i have been successful at profiting with.

pm if you have any questions... i have found the greatest success lies in subscriptions/services that are not exclusively 1 vendor. meaning, if your subscriber can subscribe to multiple services for the same thing (a small business can subscribe to many lead gen subscriptions, for example) you have a better chance of retaining that subscriber as opposed to if they only choose one vendor in the space. a lot less competition this way.. you only have to convince them that your service is worth the price, not that it is better than every other website doing the same thing.

Amember.com is a popular one, and I guess they have a module that allows for content dripping (like, create 5 months worth of content, and unlock each month as the member stays each month).

I have my own but I custom coded it.
