When I was 9, I was bitten on the leg by a Brown Recluse while playing in an old Oak tree. I didn't even feel it bite me. About 30 min later my leg felt funny, almost like it wanted to freeze up. Luckily, I got to the doctor in time. Had to take pills & couldn't walk right for a week. Not fun. 20 years later, I still have the little indentation on my leg and have had arachnophobia ever since... Irregardless, if I saw that in my basement, I'd probably kill the big one and capture the little ones to release into the wild. Then I'd pay a bunch of birds to come and eat them one by one...

Wolf Spiders..neat. (not)

Had them ina flat in Hamburg, fucking things do not spin webs, they fucking CHASE their prey... the prey being insects you figure them is fast motherfuckers.

Never had any scary spider experiences. I've killed brown recluses and black widows but it was always outdoors.

Have had a couple close run ins with scorpions and rattlesnakes though.

First time I saw a scorpion was in a department store at the local mall, I'm not sure what kind he was, he was bigger than treebark scorpions like I normally see, and had a green tint to him.

Anyway, I see the thing crawl out from under a clothes rack onto the tile floor about 20 feet for me, he swivels so hes facing me. I'm not afraid yet, hes a decent distance away, and first time I've ever seen a scorpion, I think it's kind of cool.. and then he runs at me, and I mean runs, he was at a slow walk/shamble when he came out of the clothes rack, but when he started in my direction he covered 10 feet before I could even react.

My ass goes running away and yelling, and the thing actually chases me. I get to a maintenance guy and he uses one of those huge mops they have to push him away, every time he does it send the scorp sliding across the floor away from us and he just runs right back. This happens 3-4 times before the guy just starts trying to stomp on it. He misses and the scorp pincers the edge of his shoe then goes at his foot with his stinger, luckily he had on thick leather work boots. While it was clamped on him he used the other foot to smash the little bastard.

Scorpions are stupidly aggressive. >< I mean what kind of creature sees something over a hundred times its size and decides to pick a fight?

That happens in nature more than you'de think. I don't know why. Here's a clip of a bunny going after a snake. YouTube - Rabbit vs Snake

It's like the rabbit was like... "This is for cousin bob, you slitheren mofo"

I also had a run in with a scorpion in my mother in laws shower. Apparently that happens all the time in her neck of the woods, but I was not a happy camper when I came flying out of that bathroom.

Might wanna get that checked out again....just sayin...

This is why I live in central Europe.

Just did a search on it in google. I believe it was a camel spider. Anyone who hasn't seen a camel spider image before can google it. You won't regret it.

In that case, we can all stop freaking out:
Wikipedia said:
Solifugae are the subject of many myths and exaggerations about their size, speed, behavior, appetite, and lethality. They are not especially large, the biggest having a legspan of perhaps 12 centimetres (5 in). They are fast on land compared to other invertebrates, the fastest can run perhaps 16 kilometres per hour (10 mph), nearly half as fast as the fastest human sprinter.
Members of this order of Arachnida apparently have no venom, with the possible exception of one species in India (see below) and do not spin webs.

Yet some how, the power of this knowledge does not make me feel any better.
YOU LIED TO ME AGAIN G.I.JOE!!!

From what i heard from a friend of mine in iraq right now who see's a lot of camel spiders, they aren't poisonous but they eat flesh. I guess its hardly noticable cus they do it so slowly and numb the tissue, so they'll like eat a big hole in your leg or something while you sleep and you'll wake up and have to get it amputated.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I've been killing spiders in our condo with cans of the compressed air cleaner. It's C02, so it's liquid inside the can. Invert it to get the liquid spray, and then you can freeze the fuckers.

If I saw those spiders I'd grab the shop-vac.. I suck up hornets flying in house with it because it beats trying to kill those bastards a newspaper.. I hate spiders, all necessary force will be authorized..

I avoided this thread all month because i knew it would be something to do with s*id*rs. I can't even type it! I really wish i could unsee that!

GEEZUZ, that picture clearly explains why my house is sprayed. EW.
