Hey Guys,

Recently I've started my journey into the world of trying to create a living online in the world of IM so I thought I'd share instead of just sucking the juice out of the wise without any giving on WF.

Background: I toyed around with a site for fun around a year ago with some little top 10 lists, next minute I found one article had received 60k views on stumbleupon and I instantly thought about cashing in. Straight to Flippa and I sold the site for 1k.

Aim: My aim is to try turn the 1k into 5k+ per sale and try hit 75k by the end of next financial year (30th June).

Progress
: Started 6 'big brand' sites in line with advice given by CCarter and Tavin (Thanks guys) and trying to get some content pumped out with them.

Site 1 (Main Focus): Recieving around 300 Uniques a day. (In health and wellness niche)
Disclaimer: I did start this 2 months ago but have not had the time to put work into it until the last month or so.

Sites 2-6 Rolling out as we speak!

Limitations:

  • Studying full time at University
  • Limited Capital (working 2 part time jobs to get extra capital)
  • Suck at design to the point where I could not even make my own logo's. Lucky for fiverr and the joys of outsourcing.
Jobs Today: Pump out that quality content like there's no tomorrow.

Good luck - if you suck at design hit up some people for barter.

Update this often with some real details so you can get some actual feedback.

Looking forward to following your journal. Just keep in mind that 6 big brand sites is A LOT of work! My main site can be a full time job alone. You might better served better to just focus your energy on 1, highly profitable, website.

Yep agreed guys.

My 'site 1' is my main aim towards a big brand. I'm just constantly rolling out content through that.

It also just got accepted into Alltop as of a few hours ago, so a nice PR link coming from there now should help a lot.

The other sites are geared towards a flip in 6 months.

I've been working just on content to get them up and ready and to try to start generating some organic traffic. Once i've got a bit of traffic flowing in i'll get down to business and implement a bit more of Tavin's thread into them to try increase the perceived value of them.

Once i've got a bit of cash from the two jobs i'll also outsource a bit of content to get going for the other sites.

For example : 10 hour shift = $200 or so. = 10 good articles. Drip 3 days apart and i've got a months worth of articles for one of the flipping sites.

If you're strapped for cash - here's a good way to get some quality links:

Pick three moderately large/competitive keywords in your niche. So, if your niche is pet training....pick dog tricks, dog obedience training, etc... Not the broadest keyword, but still has some volume.

Grab the top 3 results for each keyword and scrape their links in ahrefs one by one. Go through the top 10-20 links for each site and choose 10 that you think you are able to get via outreach or other free method.

This should leave you with 90-100 link opportunities. Spend 30-60 minutes a day doing your best to get one or two of those links. In two months, when everything starts to come together a bit more on your sites, you should have a solid link profile working for you.

Yes, time = money, but if you don't have the loot to drop on quality links in the first place - this is a great next option.

I really love journals. Hope to see more from you and Thanks Stack Cash for that great back link idea
