This happened to the bus driver on my route in highschool. Was like the 3rd or 4th Aussie to win Powerball after it started in the mid 90s.
He was back driving the bus a year later because he'd spent it all, and still hadn't managed to pay off his mortgage because he was too busy buying shit for his family and going on cruises.

The moment you make over $1m, you pay off your house and then get a high interest account, and just dump the shit in there. From $3m, you could effectively retire and live quite comfortably off the interest if you can find a place that'll give you 5% or better.
