What do most of you successful affiliates do to test an offer do you bother building out a landing page or do you just direct link and see if it coverts before you bother? I used to just direct link but i have been building out landing pages and I can never get the offer to convert so i just spent 4 days setting up the landing page, buying a domain and doing testing just to find out I can not get the campaign to convert. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can direct link at first since it's easier. Although, you should realize that you're probably not going to be the only person direct linking. So all of your competitors and you are going to have the same landing page and you're not going to stand out.

It depends on the niche and campaign, I have more success with direct linking on a few particular campaigns than I do with a landing page. Although, that doesn't mean my landing page couldn't be better and have higher conversions than direct linking.

When you say, "do you bother building out a landing page", it sounds like you're making it out to be a chore. It's not like that, think of your landing pages as a store-front you need to put thought into it and make them stand out from your competitors.

You also need to split-test landing pages so it's not just one landing page that you're bothering to build, you have to split-test many to see which converts.

If you can't get the landing page to convert then maybe you need to hire/outsource somebody to build the landing pages. Being a good web-designer in this industry is a big help, or else you have to spend money to get somebody else to do a quality job. Then you also need to have quality content.

to avoid the multiple people direct linking issue you could always buy a domain and iframe.

Went through three phases myself.....

1) Noob who just direct linked forever (straight to offer).
2) Noob who made LPs for every offer tested no matter how bad.
3) Noob who now direct links (masked though to protect keywords) to offer then builds out LPs once it tests well.

A quality LP can take several hours and thats not possible if your testing dozens of offers. As mentioned iframing on a unique domain works if it is supported, but sometimes direct linking to newer offers is fine as well.

I don't have a lot of time to build landing pages. I like making them but they take a good 3-5 hours to make and I have a lot of projects. I am just trying to figure out as far as testing what i should do. I always iframe if i do a direct linking so i can place a google pixel to keep an eye on the bounce and time on site rate, but im just wondering if when people are testing offers do they get a converting offer by direct linking and than go to a landing page or start out with a landing page.

I appreciate both of your comments this is useful information.

If you're thinking about building a long-term business, then do no link directly to the offer. A landing page allows you to:

- Get to know your customer
- Build trust and confidence
- Pre-sell the offer
- Collect demographics before passing through to the offer
- Analyze customer behavior, other metrics
- Increase quality score

I've said it before, I'll say it again. If it were as simple as linking to the offers landing page, they would not be using affiliates in the first place. You need to build the relationship with the customer and you'll make the sale 100% of the time.

Do some offers just not convert or is that a myth?

To rephrase, if I can't get an offer to convert (I mean at all) is it possible that the offer is just shit, or is it more likely that my attempt at converting the customer was shit?

well if you test it yourself any offer should be tracking.

As far as an offer that converts horribly, its definetly possible. If the design is terrible and its put together shoddily which some offers are its def possible to have an offer that converts like crap.

Take some of the work load off your shoulders... Have you affiliate company design the pages for you (its free).. Give them a basic outline and color scheme and they will usually get one back to you in 24hours.

RoundRobin,

You said
" 3) Noob who now direct links (masked though to protect keywords) to offer then builds out LPs once it tests well."

Can you explain this in more detail? By masking, what do you mean? Is this a kind of cloaking or redirect? Regret my confusion on this; I'm still coming up to speed on the affiliate side of things.
