Looked it up, as i am a total newb to latest hipster music trends and immediately heard the Sting resemblance. Did some more research and found out that, of course, a lot of people have been comparing him to Sting.
Not that I am a Gay Webmaster Fanboy of Sting, but I really got into his music after he started employing some monster Jazz talents (ie. Branford Marsalis, Vinnie Colaiuta, Manu Katche, Omar Hakim, Christian McBride, Chris Botti, he even did a little work with Miles Davis etc..)

Anyways, there is a good example of how close they are on youtube.

Bear in mind, young 'uns, that Sting and The Police were a 3 piece band and not some digital combination of effects, sequencing, with a twistof live instrumentation.
 
Goyte is too popular to be hipster. That'd be a hipster paradox. Nicholas Braun is awesome though. Red State was fantastic.

C'mon, don't dismiss the use of modern tools. He is a member of a 3 piece and and he performs with 4 and 5 people live/on stage including this chick who is also an accomplished singer in her own right.
