I came across this article which is fucking hilarious. It's a bit long, but I LOLOLOL'd

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/28/business/28borker.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&hpw

the owner of DecorMyEyes might be more than just a combustible bully with a mean streak and a potty mouth. He might also be a pioneer of a new brand of anti-salesmanship — utterly noxious retail — that is facilitated by the quirks and shortcomings of Internet commerce and that tramples long-cherished traditions of customer service, like deference and charm. Nice? No. Profitable? “Very,” says Vitaly Borker, the founder and owner of DecorMyEyes, during the first of several surprisingly unguarded conversations. “I’ve exploited this opportunity because it works. No matter where they post their negative comments, it helps my return on investment.”

tldr;

guy is completely fine with angry customers (encourages it!) because of the link love he gets from complaintsboard, ripoffreport, etc..

that was a solid article actually, saw it yesterday too, great example of no big companies giving a fuck unless something is seriously brought to their attention.

On a way more serious note, you're 1 post away from 3000...

the funny thing is i really can't think of anything the SE's can do about it.

First thought that came to mind was 'what if google blacklists him?'. All that work right down the rabbit hole. They don't have to explain themselves, do they?

LOLOLOL.

Serious story.

The guy behind DecorMyEyes was hiring for a person asisstant for his business, and he lives literally 6 blocks from me. Anyhow, my girlfriend had applied for the position, and after liking her resume, he wanted her to come in for training.

But, before she went in, she google'd in his company, and found a SHITLOAD of complaints. I then gave her the idea that she should offer him a service where she'll work on getting the complaint listings on Google for his company name pushed out of the 1st page. So she gives him a call pitching this idea, and his only words were "Fuck You! Don't call me again."

And that was that.

Damn I hope the owner of decormyeyes get's ass cancer.

On a more serious note, that's an eye opening article. It kind of makes me want to open a drop shipping site and flood getsatisfaction and all the rest with fake negative reviews as it's entire SEO strategy.

Yeah it'd be much easier to fake it than to actually threaten people, maybe it really is all fake?

Fake or not, it sounds like this guy takes it to a pretty deep level. He probably really is psycho and just decided to monetize it.

Haha, check out his BBB rating.....F

Decor My Eyes Review - SUNGLASSES in Brooklyn , NY - BBB Reliability Report - BBB serving Metropolitan New York, Long Island, and the Mid-Hudson Region

  • 294 complaints filed against business
  • Failure to respond to 273 complaints filed against business
Something tells me the guy is a retard and thinks he's gaining some awesome advantage from linkjuice.

A much more plausible theory would be that he is losing valuable business by being a dick, and the links from complaint websites don't affect his rankings in any significant way.

I also wouldn't be surprised if SE's will eventually be able to interpret data such as complaints from legitimate complain websites (or data from say the BBB), and use that data in their ranking algorithm.

Im with you.

I know someone that was word-for-word copying some popular site for his autoblog and it was working. The guy noticed, got pissed, and wrote him up giving him a PR5 link to the offending site and his main web design site. ROFL

who is dumb enough to still order product from sites like this after reading all the complaints...fucking morons

Ya I was looking around too and it looks like Google stomped on it. If you google "Google" a lot of the news stories are about this.

Its only a PR1 now. I think that might have been adjusted already. Or his shit was longtail and easy. How about these Keywords and Xrumer instead of bad press?
